 | CleverElsie (12) 11/26/2007 | Ahh, botulinum toxin. It's not just a beauty treatment,
folks. It's also a deadly bacteria acquired from improperly
cooked food. The victim of botulism develops flu- and stroke-like
symptoms, which progress to total paralysis. Death usually occurs
from suffocation when the respiratory system is paralyzed. Today,
the mortality rate is low, but that's because victims are put on
ventilators for weeks. Fun. If untreated, someone suffering
from botulism has a 50-50 chance of survival.
