Founded the Socratic method. . .told to shut up and stop questioning- he said bring on the freakin' hemlock.  Had ego to be sure- but had more guts than most people who live in fear of questioning things that they should.  A hero and major influence on Western Civ.

While some of their ideas bordered on idiotic, you can't deny the importance of several Greek philosophers to the development of western thought.

One of the most important philosophers of all time. Inspired/tutored Plato, who taught Aristotle, and philosophy never looked back...
It was he who first taught us to question...
