 | GenghisTheHun (168) 04/11/2008 | Today is April 11, and on this date in history, in 1899, Spain ceded Puerto Rico to the United States. This is another shameful case of imperialism of a so-called republic. We should have granted Puerto Rico its independence decades ago. It remains in a political half life--quasi-independent and quasi-American.

 | Skizero (13) 12/28/2004 | they dont want it, and neither do i. in fact, i say we tax as all americans are taxed, as they use our currency and carry the same civil rights! UPDATE: true, we can't tax them. but from rumblings i've heard, Puerto Rico doesn't even want to be a state.

 | helmut (16) 12/28/2004 | Hey Skizero, the reason we don't tax them is because they aren't represented in congress. Well, at least, they don't vote in congress. Remember the Revolution? We fought that becuase England was taxing us without representation. If they wan't to be a state, that's fine, but we certainly can't tax them without representation.
