The bulk of stand-up comedy is rooted in exactly this concept.

 | abichara (60) 07/08/2007 | This is one of those "human" things that people do. I think many like to do this because it makes themselves feel better about their place in life. It certainly isn't a very nice thing to do. Indeed, I believe firmly that what goes around comes around, so I try not to point out other people's misfortunes in a humorous way.

 | Molfan (57) 07/08/2007 | would not laugh at a decent person who had lousy things happen them. however if it were some jerk who was rotten to us, may have a bit of a chuckle. would be glad to see someone get a bit of their own nastiness back in their laps. the kind who had it coming to them.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 07/08/2007 | It just isn't funny unless you know and hate them or its one of those stupid criminal stories where its hard to feel sorry for them.
