I think I'm OK with the Sixers taking Thaddeus Young at the 12th pick, though initially I was pretty pissed that they didn't take Thornton or Julian Wright.  But as I learn more about Young, it sounds like he could be special.  He's a guy that would have gone in the top 10 last year if he had been allowed to go to the NBA straight out of high school.  He's also a 4.0 student, and by all accounts a fantastic person.  He's ultra athletic, has that "NBA body" that people talk about, and can shoot the ball.  He's 6'8" and possibly still growing, as he's only 19.

Thornton, on the other hand, is 24 and not known for having a high hoops IQ.  What Thornton would have brought, however, is a snarling toughness that the Sixers currently don't have.  Iguodala, Dalembert, Korver are all super nice guys, but in the NBA, at times you need guys that are not all that nice to compete.  Thornton has already said that he's going to make the Sixers pay for passing him up, and looking at his highlight reel, it's hard to doubt him.  

The verdict on Young will have to be held until 2-3 years out, but for now, I can live with the pick.		3
