Very reliable, haven't really had any trouble with my 2001 Avalon. Also, it has an enormous amount of space, and it gets decent gas mileage.

I have a 2004 Toyota Avalon with 80k miles and have not had a bit of trouble with it. I installed a new battery, new brakes and tires and it's just like new. I plan to drive it another 100,000 miles.

Wonderful car. I had a 1996 Avalon XLS for eleven years and loved it. Sold it in 2007 with 100k miles on it only because Toyota came out with the Camry Hybrid, and I wanted the newer safety features, like stability control and side-curtain airbags. Never had any problems with it, other than one time when a pollution control valve got stuck and I had to take it in. The V6 engine had plenty of oomph, and the mileage wasn't too bad. I agree about the roominess--I'm 6'3", and my brother, who is taller and bigger, could sit in the back seat behind me and have ample leg room. Trunk is cavernous. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I have a 1996 Toyota Avalon with 177K miles on it. My mother-in-law bought it new, and I bought it from her at 95K miles. The dependability factor is extremely high... it has rarely been in the shop beyond regular maintenance. I love the smoothness of the drive. I'm reminded of how smooth it is when I occasionally drive a different car. For such a large sedan, I get great gas milage... about 28mpg around town. What continues to impress me, though, is the leg room in the front and back. I don't often get to ride in the back seat, but each time I do, I make the comment "Wow, I forgot how much leg room is back here!" Even with a 6ft tall person sitting comfortably in the front seat, other adults can still sit comfortably in the back. We have taken many road-trips with our teenagers, where there were 3 in the back. None of them felt too squished. Another big plus for me is the trunk size. It's huge, even in the newer models. If I were buying another sedan, it would be another Avalon.
