The first plastic record I bought and the last. I played it until cassettes came out later. They did a great job of redoing the live tapes to make the discs.

Great album, especially Peter Criss' drum solo on "100,000 Years." Great production as well, especially for being the mid-'70's

This album had everything from great energetic songs, big production and the sound of the crowd in the forefront for the first time on record. This album made Kiss what they would become, larger than life. Bands got away from live albums because they generally did not sell well, but people were not buying Kiss' studio albums up to that point in their career because the studio albums were not catching the magic of their Live shows and Alive! did that. This live album put the sound of the audience as a major part of the experience for the first time on a live recording and that contributed to its success. This album also made live albums fashionable again and spawned the best selling live album of all-time "Frampton Comes Alive".
