The last bag I got I would have given 5 stars, but this bag has changed! It is lighter in color, the bits are thicker, and they don't smell as good. And my dogs, who loved the last bag, looked at me as though they had been duped! I wonder if it was a bait and switch? We switched from another brand, and my older dog has been doing so well... She had been anorexic and had runny poop and was tired. This food had fixed all that and I had been recommending it like crazy. Now what... I hope it isn't back to that. Is the whole world becoming evil?

So far so good! I extended my stay in Phoenix and ran out of food for my dog, Sox. I went to the Pet Food Depot looking for a small bag of Cal Natural or Healthwize which they did not have. The store assistant recommended I try Maie dog food by Nutrisource. Sox's seems to love it. Maie appears to be as natural as my regular dog food and also contains glucosamine and Chondroiton which is great for her being she has joint issue. I love the price and if it works out for her I will definitely continue to purchase this product.

My male St. Bernard "Rudy" gets Diarrhea when he eats any other brand other then the NutroSource!! I tried so many brands from high quality to cheap grocery store brands, all with the same results...Diarrhea! I was surfing the web looking for another brand to try, and came across NutriSource, and a store near me that carries it, so I decided to try it, and I'm so glad I did...No more Diarrhea, and their coats are Beautiful!! I don't plan on changing foods ever again! Oh, and the best part is, they love it!!

One thing I like about the NutriSource is that it is made in a company owned manufacturing facility. It is not contracted out to a source hundreds of miles away. Quality control can then be closely monitored and and quickly addressed by the people it matters to.

Our two standard poodles like the food. We have been using it for two months now, but, we do notice that there is a very noticable increase in the number of times they have to poop and wonder what is causing this. Sorry but I cannot think of anything amusing. We will continue the food for another month to see if they need more time to adjust to the food or if the pooping is something to worry about. They go 4 to 8 times a dday since we started this.

I have 4 dogs. 2 (a small mix and a doxie) seem to do okay on the Lamb and Rice. My 2 cocker spaniels (littermates) are 1 yr old. They poop at least 6 times a day on this stuff. It is well formed, but way too often. I'm going to have to switch them. I will keep the other 2 on it for as long as they do well and continue to eat it.

Be careful when reading the reviews of NutriSource dry dog foods. Check the date of the report. I'm not at all sure of the date but somewhat recently NutriSource modified the ingredients in at least some if not all of its product line. Check the date of the review and also check the packaging and ingredient list. From what I can tell there is a VERY slight difference in the logo and design of packaging the food that is the new, improved ingredient lists (fortunately it moved in the "improved" direction rather than the wrong direction like some companies in last year!). The old logo for "NutriSource" apparently is a plain, solid color letter style for the word "Source" and the bag has a 2-part color scheme. The NEW logo is more 3-dimensional for the word "Source" and the bags are of a 3-part color scheme with the word "Adult" or "Puppy" or "Senior" prominent in the center color. In the new formula of at least the Adult C&R there is NO corn or wheat (as in the old list). Some webs... Read more

It appears to be a pretty decent food. It does use menadione and I can not feed anything that contains this. I also can not trust this company.

I raise Alaskan Malamutes and avidly work them in all aspects - I have to watch the amount of kibble given to avoid GDV which is common in our breed - My dogs all look AWESOME on the food and maintain their weight perfectly on a very low intake of food - I do supplement with raw during sledding season - I have been studying nutrition and also am a Vet Technician and have found Nutrisource to be a popular food for pet owners that have incurred GI issues. I also show my dogs in the conformation ring so coat is very important to me, and my dogs are able to keep great coat, awesome weight, and they LOVE it to boot!!!!! I recommend NutriSource to anyone that wants a quality food, reasonably priced, and that has great results!!!!!

This is a good food that my dogs love and do well on. The manufacturer has improved the ingredient list over the years, getting rid of corn & wheat; replacing "poultry fat" with chicken fat; getting rid of poultry digest. What's not to like? Chicken AND chicken meal are the first two ingredients; the grains are rice, barley and oatmeal, which are good. 26% protein; 4% fiber; 5:1 ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids; proteinated mineral complexes; some probiotics. There are no big "baddies" in this food. Beet pulp doesn't bother me (nor my dogs). Some folks don't like seeing menadione sulfate as a vitamin D supplement. Pet Food Depot in Phoenix is selling the the identical formula labeled as "Maei" (MAY-eye) Pet Nutrition; they sell it for about 85 cents/pound---a great buy. I can get the Nutrisource brand at Pratts for about $1.00 a pound, which isn't bad, either. I think this is a solid food for the money---economical but a great ingredient list. Best of all, m... I recently got a Weimeraner puppy who would not stop having diareaha. I went to petSmart and they had me buy "Nutro" ... I had him on it for two weeks and he started bleeding out of his little bum...I called Petsmart twice and they told me it was not the food...at 9 weeks old he started LOSING weight and not acting very "puppyish"...so I took him to the vet and she immediatley looked at me and said "Get him off of Nutro"...there was a recall on all of it back in July when I bought it a week after and they didn't bother to tell me. She said it was even killed dogs and cats because they changed the formula so much. She also told me to stay away from Science Diet for the same reason. I was completely dumbfounded because I thought Nutro and Science Diet were a couple of the BEST foods out there and boy was I wrong. I went to a local pet store, not like petsmart or petco...and they put him on another food and he would not touch it. Titan, my weim, is now on Nutri Source and cannot get enoug... Read more

I have a APBT and she is 7months old now and in the beginning i tried a number of foods...including eukanuba, Nutro, Science Diet, and she didn't like either of them....very loose stools, gasy, and it just didn't seem to be working until a store clerk at the local pet store recommended Nutrisource...large breed puppy chicken and rice...and she loved it....she is a black dog and her coat is amazing...i get compliments on it all of the time....her energy is great....she has less waste....and no gas!...she also is gaining her body weight at an appropriate rate as she is solid as a rock with no body fat....she is a showpiece...but i would have to recommend this food all of the way....i will use it in the future as well

Great results! My Britteny is high energy and can hunt all day. Her coat is beautiful. She has a large frame and is well proportioned at 43 lbs. She has weighed the same since she turned 2 1/2 years. She is limited to a cup of nutrisource in the morning and another in the early evening. She looks forward to meal time. In addition she gets occassional training rewards and cooked meat scrapes.

Have had my retrievers and ridgebacks on Chicken soup large breed, Innova, and now Nutrisource. Chicken soup and Innova, while great foods, had too many fruits and vegetables which led to gas and soft stools. Nutrisource has their coats shining, no gas, healthy stools and all of their products contain glucosamine and chondroitin for joints and tissues which is great for my very active and agile breeds.

I hunt with a yellow pointing lab. The vet always compliments me on the condition and weight of the dog. I feed him the super performance product with a meat supplement during the hunting season because of all the energy expended. I do not feed the meat supplement when the hunting seasons end. He has a shinny coat and an abundance of energy. He has had no reactions to the food, and licks his lips when I prepare his food in the evening.

This food does not digest well. It is hard for my dog to chew and is has very little nutritional value. He hates the taste of it. It gave my dog diarrhea and he could hardly chew the kibble. It is also too high in calories for small dogs, but not enough for large dogs.

I had been thru several different brands (premium- science diet, eukanuba, diamond naturals, etc) of dog food for my 2 large breed dogs and right now Nutrisource is doing great. They have beautiful coats, smaller poo, no house clearing gas, smaller waste, but most importantly they seem to be enjoying the taste.

We have two shih tzus and are feeding the Nutrisource as recommended by our vet. We have been very satisifed with how their coats look, as well as their overall health. We have talked to our vet about other more costly foods, but she continues to recommed Nutrisource. We have tried other cheaper foods, and were nowhere near as happy as we are with this food.

We found the NutriSource puppy food for small and medium dogs in December 2007. We have a small breeding program of English Cream Miniature Dachshunds. We are thrilled with the quality of this product. Our dogs enjoy the food, the ingredients in the puppy food are excellent. Our dogs' coats shine and they are healthy on this food. We had tried at least 6 other Premium more expensive dog foods prior to finding the NutriSource. We recommend this food to everyone who purchases one of our puppies. Aureus Dachshunds

Nutrisource - We own a kennel of 8 GSP's and a Pointer, and 3 labs. Our dogs, hunt, compete and are very athletic and need to stay in tip top shape. We have fed many different brands over the years. By far, Nutrisource is the best there is. Our dogs are all healthy, shiney coats, in athletic shape and maintain on a reasonable amount of food. No overfeeding needed to keep weight or no drastic measures to ensure that they must lose weight. Love the food, the best we have found.

Hardly low quality Jake. I have my GSP pup on the Super Performance formula and so far coat, energy, and stools excellent. Super Performance it appears has less grain than other formulas in their line-up. Chicken Meal and Chicken listed as the first two ingredients. Some common misconceptions.Beet pulp: As far as fiber sources are concerned, beet pulp has been shown to be somewhat of a silver bullet in regards to intestinal health and aiding in overall stool quality. Its not the most glamorous part of our day, but being aware of your dogs stool quality can be a good indicator of its overall health. I have seen claims this is a by-product that is high in sugar and can cause hyper activity. This is a by-product of the sugar beet industry; however, it is after the sugar has been processed and is a fiber source. There is a lot of research into this product that shows it greatly benefits the intestinal cells. It will cause increased effeciency and growth of theses cells. There has been some ... Read more

I am feeding it to my dogs and my cat right now but since the Pet Food recall I've started looking into the ingredients more, this has corn and dried beet pulp in it and I've discovered that both can lead to allergies. My shepherd is constantly biting and licking his feet but I hadn't thought that it could be his food. I am currently looking into switching and I am trying to choose between Nature's Variety, Natural Balance and Canidae. All are corn and dried beet pulp free which is a huge plus. Whichever I decide on is what I will go with for my cat as well. This might not be bad for every dog, but I wouldn't recommend it.
