Quite possibly the worlds most magnificent city park. Stanley Park is the star attraction in Vancouver and exhibits how much of a beautiful city Vancouver really is. The park is huge at 1,000 acres right on the edge of downtown. It is thickly forested with evergreens so you can disappear from the city and feel worlds away from it in no time. The landscape sticks out on a peninsula so one can bike, rollerblade, or jog around the perimeter of the park and catch views of the mountains, the city skyline, harbor, the Lion's Gate Bridge, sandy beaches, rocky ledges, and the ocean all in the same place. Within the park you'll find totem poles, an aquarium, and a kid's waterpark. This place is a destination where one could easily spend a whole day.

Stanley Park is to Vancouver as Central Park is to New York maybe even more considering Stanley Park is near some other great attractions to vancouver such as the waterfront, Granville market, Vancouver aquarium, and very good/great restaraunts. In my opinion Vancouver is truly one of the best cities on the North American continent.

Not as impressive as it was a few months ago, after a series of devastating windstorms caused immense and irreparable (at least in the short to medium term) damage to the old-growth forest there. While its attractions are impressive, it is definately a park to stay out of in the evening and at night (which is true of most big-city parks) In the late evening it becomes the prowl of gangsters settling scores, gay and straight hooker trysts, and cowboy cops (of which the VPD has an inordinate number) dispensing frontier "justice."
