I love practical gifts. My two favorite gifts from my husband are my DSLR and XBOX 360 with the GH3 bundle. Those turned out to be my two biggest entertainments/hobbies so they can't get any more practical than that.Practical gifts are good, as long as you know for sure what are the things the person will be using a lot. I know sometimes this doesn't quite come as intuitive to some people, in which case, stick to the unpractical gifts.*hints: diamonds are good

My considered opinion is that one should only give a practical gift to a woman on Valentines Day if you've been eating those retard sandwiches again.Either that, or you really want to be dating Rosie Palm and her five sisters for a couple of weeks.

I think as we get older, we get smarter. It is not a clear cut case, but just because it is Valentines Day dosent mean that we should just think of the funny Valentine kind of stuff. Even though us gals know it makes us "feel good". The commercial aspect is preposterous though. We as people don't get a brake, first Christmas, then Valentines, "retailers listen" we are not printing green backs. The pressure to buy is incredible, and even neglgent on some behalfs, we are full of bills, and here we need to go and buy more. There has to be a better way to say Happy What Ever Day, and also to remember when we love someone to let them know it frequently, it dosen't cost a thing to do an act of kindness from the heart and it is usually much appreciated.

It best not be the only gift...

Bad idea. If the person really needed a toaster he or she would have purchased one for themselves.
