My husband and I have signed an agreement on flowers are not to be purchased near the Valentine's Day.

I have yet to meet a woman who didn't like flowers.

I know this isn't a terribly popular viewpoint, but I'll say it, anyway: Flowers ARE pretty. And they ARE nice. But, they don't make good gifts for someone like me who tends to think it over too much. The reason why I don't do flowers: When you think about it, you're cutting off a plant's genitals and handing it to someone. Then, on top of that, a week later they're dead. That makes for an awful symbol for "undying love". Not that the gesture wouldn't be appreciated, but I'd prefer a whole, live plant. ( . . . I was never much of a romantic type . . . )

Since I'm currently uninvolved (Boo hoo hoo! Poor me!), I bought nothing this year except some chocolate candy for myself. When I was dating, though, I learned you could never go wrong with flowers.

I bought a dozen red roses. What did the rest of you do out there?

Gotta have the flowers...

Okay if the recipient actually likes flowers, but I'd avoid roses. Roses say "I didn't want to have to think about this." Make it something more personal.

i suppose that flowers are nice and I know for a fact that there are some women who expect flowers {or else, poor fellas} i am with vudija, I do not expect flowers. they are way overpriced.

I know few women who would turn down a pretty bouquet of flowers, myself included.
