I changed the wording on this one to alleviate any confusion...originally it listed "participant" in the place of competitor. (Add picture)

I know rec leagues aren't the big show, but I get very irritated when somebody steps out of the batters box to take a call. Some players will head over to the sidelines during the game when the phone rings - that's a major no-no in my playbook. I guess if you're in a position where you need to take work calls any time/any place, or if it's an emergency, I'll take exception, but I've yet to see either.

I'm slightly confused here.

Does participant mean "fan or spectator?" In which case no problem.

Or does it mean athlete or competitor? In which case I'd love to see a batter ask for time to step out of the box and take a call. If it ever happens I hope whoever is pitching puts the next one in his ear.

With all the racket at a fight or ball game, who would notice?
