Cats are amazing creatures! I have always had pets around, but the ones i remember the most are my 3 beautiful kittens. One a Bombay, another a Maine Coon, and one cute little Calico. They make amazing companions, have very different (and- INTERESTING) personalities, and also may have a bit of an attitude sometimes but at least i don't have to worry about them all the time. They're independent creatures, but absolutely love any kind of attention, bad or good. When i got my first cat at age 4, i remember the games we used to play, like hide-and-go-seek. I know, i know, it's weird right? well its definitely possible. My cat would sit at the side of the couch, and i'd poke my head out and try to get his attention and once i did, i pull my head back in real fast. I'd do that about 4 times before he'd run over and attack me. (aahh, the memories). I'm sure i'd have lots of fun with a dog, but i definitely looooove my cats, and don't feel like switching over anytime soon (although they sometimes drink out of the toilet, eat toilet paper, poo under the table, pee on the carpet, attack possums, pull food out of the trash can, open doors, and lay around like lazy lumps, i'm perfectly happy with their- UNIQUENESS..).

I had always been a dog person, but then one day fate played a cruel joke on me.... For 15 years I worked for a recreational resort and lived on the resort in an RV. One day I found a tiny little orange and white fluff ball (kitten) about the size of a tea cup. I figured he wasn't going to make it on his own so I took him over to where the other park cats lived and made sure he was fed and watered. Called him Tiger...The older female cats took great delight in knocking the tar out of him on a daily basis. I would hear a noise and look out in time to see them rolling him down the driveway, hair flying everywhere. I began to feel sorry for the little sod and after a beating I would put him in my lap and let him suck on my shirt/coat. Thought at first it must have been a baby cat thing. I was wrong. His first "night on the town" some other cat ripped his face open and sent him home bawling. I figured this would be a continuing problem so I took him in and had his cookies cut off. After a few weeks he seemed to forgive me. One day he showed up at the door of the RV and feeling sorry for the homeless picked on little toad I let him come on in and gave him a little food. He never left. Oh he would go outside but when the sun went down he would bang on the door for hours until I let him in. This started a pattern of torture that went on for many, many years. At 01:00 in the morning he would wake me up wanting to go out. At 02:00 he would throw himself at the door until I got up and let him in. This went on every night for years...Wouldn't use a litter box. He grew into a 13 pound butterball. He acquired a splendid "budda" belly that would hide his back feet when he sat down. I no longer had a life. I became a servant, no longer the master of my own home. Guests were not allowed in for any length of time. He would go so far as to swat anyone who he considered had over stayed their welcome. As the years rolled by I endured the de-feathered tweety birds on the carpet, not to mention the cat hair and dander. I patched him up on a regular basis after the fights with the big white cat next door. He never did win a fight. Searched for hours at a time, on many occasions, thinking something had happened to him and the whole time he was on the corner of the shed roof watching me with sadistic glee. I had to take out the 20 foot ladder during a major storm and get his sorry butt out of a big tree. In later years he lost his top fangs in the big white cat next door. His top lip flopped back and forth like a toothless lion. Every evening he would suck on my shirt and at bed time he would suck and knead the covers. He made an art of sitting on the window sill. If I left for town and was gone more than an hour I wouldn't hear the end of it until he was awarded some sort of treat. Like I had abused him by running away for an hour. Many a day his "attitude" made me feel like throttling him..... Well, he's gone now and I live alone. Been five years now. I have pictures that I look at often. I sure miss the ugly little toad...

I like cats because they are independent, and beautiful animals. And I think the majority of them are very clean.

The cat I own is generally a well behave cat, but is still some what aloff.

Bullseye! I can't think of any animal that has as much attitude as much as cats do - perhaps that's why I am a dog person.

When a dog is all over me begging for attention, it just doesn't seem to be as much of a compliment as when a cat actually finds me worthy of its attention.

Oh, I adore cattitude. But, you would be surprised at how hauty and humorous some dogs can be too. My grandmother's dog had a real royal complex and wouldn't even look you in the eye when she was displeased with you. One of my corgis tends to act in a similar way while the other is more of a pleaser type. While cats seem to be more aloof than dogs overall and dogs more outgoing, you can't put them all in the same catagory (or dogagory as the case may be).
