Why didn't he blow his brains before Sylar sucked his powers up?

Isaac was part of the key to saving the world, his paintings showed what was going to happen and what needed to be done to stop the event from happening. It will be interesting to see how thing splay out now that Sylar has gotten to Isaac and took his ability.

He's got an amazing gift, and alot of the show seems to circle the group of "heroes" around the prophecies in his paintings. I just wonder if he'll ever be able to do his work without the use of drugs, because I'd hate to see him waste away just for the powers that he has.

He wants to do what is right and this includes giving up heroin use, but without the drug his paintings lack their prophetic touch.
