I had this camera for a year and loved it. For its time it was a great camera. I may still regard it as a great camera for beginers because of it new low price. The camera offers all features expected of a DSLR. The picture quality is excellent. Most CCD based DSLRs give poor performing high ISO pictures. The Minolta 7D managed to get some decent pictures at above 800 ISO. It comes with an antishake system built into the body of the camera so you can use old lenses and still benefit from the new technology, instead of having to invest heavily in new IS lenses for a Canon or Nikon. On the down side the 7D has a history of developing problems with its antishake system. With Minolta no longer in business you may be at risk. Sony has bought Minolta's camera business but that does not mean they will fix all Minolta problems.
