So, betraying an ally is a good solution? What does ally means? Israels only ally is the U.S. If we turn our backs on them, we would be as guilty of their extermination as the Arab nations that would pour all of their power to wipe Israel off the map, once and for all.

Our Democratic ways will not let us move away, for the fear of fundamentalist ways. But I fear money and power is turning this whole situation into a Western dictatorship within Democracy. Yes Troops need out, but just pulling out of a country without letting it form would be a disaster!! One, which will NEVER be forgotten!!!! Anyone that has served over there, will know were I'm coming from!!!

There's more to this than my simplistic answer but here goes- oil means money and money means the U.S. will make sure that (no matter public face/farce we put on) we will insure that no one will really be allowed to 'deal' with it unless we get what we want. . .

To some extent, yes. We cannot turn a blind eye and pretend that we have no threats, no interests in the region; but this does not mean that we have to be the policemen of the region either.
