People love to bash MARTA, I don't get it! True, Atlanta's public transit system isn't as sophisticated as New York's, but it is useful. One problem with Atlantans is: most don't like to walk! MARTA can't drop you off curbside to all your destinations. You have to be willing to walk off some of that fried chicken and biscuits we eat in the south I have never fully had to rely on MARTA to get around as my only means of transportation, however I have used it many-a-times! Good reasons to use MARTA: 1. Friends don't let friends drink and drive! -Instead, they watch you fall over and make a spectacle of yourself on the MARTA post- New Years Eve Peach Drop! 2. Parking can be outrageously expensive! Especially when there is an event downtown such a concert or sporting event. MARTA drops you right off at the Phillips arena and Georgia dome so there is no excuse to have to pay $20 to park. 3. Car problems I don't have the best of luck with cars however, a girls got to get around! Convenien... Read more

The MARTA is the Atlanta transit system. It is well maintained, clean and efficient. It is also cost efficient. It needs to extend its hours to later in the night. This system does not run in enough residential areas.

Not only are the 50 cent per ticket or $5 plastic cards unnecessary fare increases, but they're designed only to let big brother MARTA track where you enter, where you leave, and how often it takes. This all comes at the rider's inconvenience. I hope getting two or three data geeks a pile of useless statistics that will be used to charge you variable rates is the future is worth the inconvenience to riders. Save your card, because if you don't "tap out" your card or ticket, YOU CAN'T LEAVE. I hope you like that MARTA station, because you're going to be living there. You just got hammered with fees and now have to dig through your purse or wallet just to get out of the station. And you'll have enough time to read the newspaper while you wait for the SLOW gates to open. Hey, I've ridden MARTA for nearly 10 years. Up until 2 months ago i used to try to get people to ride it. But the idiots in charge are determined to inconvenience you. So I tell them, Drive, Walk or Bike, b... Read more

Marta Doesn't even deserve that one star, concerning customer satifaction. When i first arrived here from New York City (1998), I was amazed! I was so happy! The Marta exsperience was so nice. Quite rails, comfortable seating, scenic, efficient and time efficient. Oh those days. Now, Marta has turned it's customers into moving robots! Causing much confusion, with this new Breeze system! Breeze is no Breeze! one tap one fare, plus a transfer. To get that transfer you must tap out of the station. IM GOING TO WORK! WHY MUST I WORK WHILE IN TRANSIT! And if that's not enough, there will now be a fair increase of 50 cents as of May 1, 2007. Oh and let's dont forget thoose stupid new gates, that slow down commuter time! I hate it! the whole re-vamping. They have the nerve to call it "BREEZE". HA! S.Holland

MARTA I was not a big fan of during the two times I used it. It does run directly to the airport but it's sort of grimy with a bad color scheme, and high on the riff-raff scale, although you can't really fault a public transportation system for that.

thedude25...I bet you're white. Can't lay the problems of MARTA all at MARTA's feet. Why doesn't MARTA travel beyond the urban areas? Because the suburbanites (read: WHITE PEOPLE) in the counties of Gwinnett, Cobb, Clayton, etc vote against MARTA coming into their neighborhoods, because they are TERRIFIED that it will bring crime (read: BLACKS and HISPANICS) into their neighborhoods. Its the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. This is not new. The suburbs (read: WHITE PEOPLE) voted against MARTA coming into their neighborhoods back in the 1960s and 1970s when the system was first being conceptualized. So, the bulk of the taxes and financial support of the aging system falls onto the inner city (read: BLACKS and HISPANICS) to financially support a transit system. It's asinine. When you folks out in the suburbs decide to want to chip in, then you can whine. Until then, shut up.

Terrible. Does not even make it out of the city in many spots. Majority of the system is in terrible neighborhoods and you have to be aware or you could be robbed or worse. Not on time either.
