I live in Canada and have loved this series since first seeing it. I certainly miss John Nettles and his sometimes comical reaction to his sergeant. The many, many murders seem a little outrageous for such a small area in Britain, but for me, it doesn't detract from the stories. I echo another person's comment that John Nettles definitely has a wonderful 'twinkle' in his eye and has such charisma! I hope the new Barnaby can be at least half as charismatic!

I have seen most movie episodes of this series. I'm honestly not a fan of it. I've only found a handful of episodes to be intriguing. Most are dull and a little too PG for me. Yes I absolutely prefer my mysteries dark & gritty. There are far better British Mysteries than Midsomer Murders. Such as Prime Suspect, A Touch of frost, Wire in the blood, Although I'm sure there are some that would disagree with me. It's all about personal taste.

This is, without doubt, the best mystery series the British have ever produced. There are a few duds: Painted in Blood, Midsomer Rhapsody, Sauce for the Goose, Orchis Fatalis, Down Among the Dead Men, The Axeman Cometh and Blood on the Saddle come to mind. But considering there are 85 episodes in the series, thus far, there are going to be a few less than stellar offerings. The older episodes, i.e., those starring Daniel Casey as DC Gavin Troy, are still my favorites. One thing I do not like about the series -- but did not allow it to affect my rating -- is that Barnaby solves so many cases based on something his wife or daughter say. This might happen occasionally, but nowhere near as often as happens in the series. I hope the producers will try something different with the new "John" Barnaby -- such as leaving his family out of the series entirely.

This is hands down, one of the best mystery programs ever produced. It has cozy appeal, but enough police procedural and darkness to make anyone happy. The body count is always through the roof, and if the crime isn't horrible enough, they go into flashbacks to up the count. It's great. Oh, and the musical score is awesome too.

Through this series one constant remained and that is John Nettles. He plays Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby to perfection and while several partners come and go he is the reason people watch it and the show never loses its beat.

Hands down, the best series ever. I love the characters and I love the stories of life in Midsomer County. I miss this show so much. It used to be on Bio. channel but hasn't been broadcast in over a year. Bring it back please, from begining to end. I love this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Inspector Barnaby and Midsommer Murders. It is a bit unsettling to have so many murders in his area of England (like Cabot Cove, ME.)  The plot is interesting and the interplay of characters makes each show fun to solve along with Barnaby and his Dectective Sgt.

Always fun to watch, although not particularly memorable.

Although the acting is always brilliant, I find the show a bit too long, combined with the fact that there are too many characters [suspects] & subplots to follow, thus the plot is too complicated; alas, I find my mind wandering after a while.

Excellent! Great plots... story moves right along... characters are very believable. John Nettles portrays Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby with a subtle wit and a twinkle in his eye.
