i could get to basic algebra but anything past that i was lost. i find t easier to figure out math problems in my head now than i ever did when i was younger. i wish i could understand it better.

I absolutely loathed Maths at school and after I passed my GCSE's I was so happy to kiss that awful subject away. Anyone who studies this at degree level has my uttmost respect as this requires someone with an incedible amount of patience. Something I'm now realising I don't have.

Regular, practical math I could handle, but when it came to Algebra I was pretty lost.It didn't help that the Algebra Teacher had amazing tits.

I really shouldn’t hate math. I actually see the beauty in it. Isn’t it ironic that any of the higher forms make me want to ultimately rip the skin off my face and jump off a cliff?

math sucks. 2+2=4 and 10-7=3. That's all I need to know.

Ahhh mathematics my mortal enemy. dude math is okay if its simple and worldy problems such as 4+3 or whatever but i dont ever see 3+7-89/5(3+9) ever being involved in a real world situation, and whooever had the fucking gay idea of "hur hur hur lets throw numbers in math as well hur hur hur" can fucking burn in hell for all eternity, math involves goddamn numbers not the fucking alphabet, most of the math, the hard stuff, was developed by sum buttfucking men in the 16th century, however i believe those sonbitches deliberately did that bullshit to make life harder on people in the future. oh and i have proof they were gay, look at pictures and painting s of them they look like freak animals and its always groups of half naked guys grabbing on each other. math should be simple and easy, not turn into a goddamn trip down alphabet lane!!!!

Mathematics has always been tough for me, but I guess there are some jobs that it comes handy in.

Absolutely loved it, but I had my troubles with certain parts. People look at me like I'm crazy when I say it, but if you want to look at universal and eternal beauty, look at mathematics. It's incredible that the universe exists, and that these things can be.

Thank God for math or no one would have picked me to be on a team first. (Phys ed was quite the opposite!) Managed to get through Calculus AB so I'd have to say I was talented, but not terribly talented.

I wound up in grad school myself, but I struggled through every Math class I ever took- I am simply a number-tard. . .for undergrad work, I quickly made friends with a tutor to get me through my degree requirements. . .I respect those with a strong command of mathematics. . .it's fascinating

For me, it was math. I am not a numbers person. I am ashamed to admit it but I have never had algebra, geometry or any of the higher forms of math. I got kicked out of school so many times and ended up in a continuation school, where apparently math of any kind was not a priority, just getting guys like us through the school system was.. To any young kids that might be reading this I would say, work hard at math, and any other subject that is tough for you., graduate and find a way to go to college. I've paid for every mistake I've ever made and the hardest to overcome was my lack of schooling. I've spent my whole life trying to correct that. Don't make it hard on yourself. That reminds me of an old adage "Life is tough, it's tougher if your stupid". Words to live by.

For many of us, myself included, math proved to be one of the most difficult subjects in school. I always passed, but I usually didn't do as well as I would in History or English. However in college, I did perform somewhat better in the subject. Someone on this page said that it was the "random nature" of math class that got to them. I also felt that way as well in school. Although it shouldn't, because math is very structured--there's a right answer and a wrong one, no in between! That randomness came as a result of the recent wave in education known as "new math" which emphasized less the teaching of fundamentals and more of "trying to get students to find the answers their own way". The thinking was 'you can be creative in trying to find the right answer'. We saw more word problems because new math advocates wanted to make math more applicable to people’s everyday lives. They are correct on this point, but de-emphasizing learning the basics through means like drills, memorizi... Read more

It's tough, but the way math is taught in America only makes it worse. Schools and textbooks here give students random problems that they haven't been told how to solve, and that the teachers don't even know either. The books give the concepts, then give problems that leave the students out to dry. I really wish more explanation of the problems could be given, people aren't born knowning how to figure out complex math. I believe that overseas, this is what other countries do. Americans claim all those people do is memorize, but then why is it they are given all the jobs and have more engineering graduates?

I sucked at math! I could barely pass general math let alone algebra, calculus, or trig....no way! I was better at literary classes.

No school subject has given me more headaches or trouble than math. My dad had to help me with it because I just would mentally tune it out (ironically, Dad is a wiz at math while I'm an English wiz). I guess I'm more right brained.

Absolutely the toughest subject I ever dealt with in the school system! I hated it because I was an A student. I hated getting Cs. I still stink at math. When I home schooled my son and my step son, I had to hire a math tutor. Now I'll be doing the same for a nephew.

Arithmetic was ok, but once I got into the more abstract maths like algebra/ geometry...put it this way, kinda wished i had edt4's idea.

Call me crazy, but I liked math. I was better at the harder stuff though, mostly because I simply got WAY too bored with the basics. I especially liked Alg 2 though.

This was always my downfall in school, my absolute worst subject. I would always be "sick" on the day of the math test, arrange to meet my math-whiz friend in the library for the make-up, and have him take it for me. By this nefarious technique, I was able to squeak my way through the math/algebra requirements for high school by the skin of my teeth. I suppose I was lucky the teachers never seemed to catch on (maybe "seemed" is the operative word here)...
