I used to tell people that I drove a Yugo, but I couldn't keep it up. I started to laugh when I saw the look on their faces.

I think it's pretty evident to most people who see me that I drive a 1997 Toyota Corolla. It looks pretty good too.

I can't say I lie about it because, for one thing, I really like my humble but sweet running little Honda. However, back in my college Ford Escort hatchback days I did kind of engage in some wishful thinking and carried a key ring that said "My other car is a Mercedes.".

On the bumper of my Mercedes is a sticker that reads "My Other Car is an '88 Chevy Impala".

As long as it gets me from Point A to Point E without breaking down, I don't care what it looks like, or what people think of it.

not me. I am not out to impress anyone with what kind of car i drive. I do not care at all if they like my choice of vehicle. we buy what we can afford not what we can impress.

I drive a 93 Dodge Intrepid with 127,000+ miles, hail damage, and a missing passenger side mirror. If I was lying, don't you think I'd pick something a little nicer?UPDATE: The Intrepid had seen better days, and after owning a 96 Buick Park Avenue for about three weeks (never buy one of those, the fuel systems are crap and it's impossible to find parallel parking spots that are long enough), I went for something a bit nicer and got an 06 Pontiac Grand Prix.

I wouldn't know what to tell you. I drive a maroon car and thats it. I don't really know much about them and I could care less. As long as it gets me where I'm going I'm fine with it.

Okay, how in the world would one get away with lying about what kind of a car they drive? Unless if it's to some telemarketer on the telephone? I mean, come on! they deserve to be lied to!

I guess the only people I would lie to are people who would never see my car. And I have no desire to impress people who I won't get to know that well.

Why lie about the car you drive? To you, the car is what you wanted (after all, you chose it and paid for it). A car is a tool. As long as it has four wheels, an engine and a steering wheel, it fulfills the purpose for which was built. I was as proud of my little Pontiac Sunbird I drove 18 years ago as I am now of the Lincoln Continental I drive currently.

A few years back I was visiting LA and I was in a bar, and a girl asked me this - it was almost the first thing out of her mouth. I found it "very LA."

No need to lie. I drive a take home emergency vehicle, a perk of my job. The down side to that though is that I am on call 24-7.

I don't drive, but even if I did; what would be the point in lying about this? Chances are, the people I am telling would one day be able to view the car that I've been driving, so why risk it?

Yeah Numbah! I got a car collection about as big as Jay Leno's. This 93 Buick Century is just in the driveway to distinguish my image.
