There's a fair amount of political commentary on this, as evidenced by the title track, a minor hit in 1968. The apocalyptic 'sequel' to the previous album's "The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil," "House At Pooneil Corners" is probably the most ominous sounding song they ever did. "Lather" always got on my nerves with Slick's faux -Irish accent and a rather annoying, nasal, bee-like noise in it, but most of this album is really fine.
