Another item on this list that gets a single star from me and not because I'm glad stereo sound is gone, but because it is far from dead. For starters, stereo will be around for portable music players (e.g. iPod's) for the foreseeable future. For the time being, I also see stereo as the standard for automobiles and computer speakers. In fact, my guess is that only professional and home sound systems will be expanded beyond stereo, and those will continue to be only a portion of the market. Perhaps I'm missing something and behind the times (and not for the first or last time), but declarations of stereo's death are premature in my opinion.3

I kind of miss it. Listening to the helicopter in the Pink Floyd song going from one headphone to another. Yeah, it can be reproduced, but it was an art form. 3
