Mutated into more of a teeny-bopper bubblegum soft rock group (see "I Want You to Want Me" and try not to lose your lunch listening to all the screaming 13 and 14-year old girls in the audience)...

These guys are rock and roll journeymen. They work hard and have made some very good music as well as a few good albums along the way. Other less deserving bands have been inducted ahead of Cheap Trick, so why not induct them as well?

These guys are hardworking and they really care about their fans. Known for their sense of humor as well as their hard-rocking sound, Cheap Trick is also a band known for their personalities. You have one versatile and goofy (not at all in a derogatory way) guitarist, Rick Nielsen, who wrote most of Cheap Trick's songs and is known for his unique collection of guitars. You have the handsome Robin Zander, who can hit the high notes as well as the low notes. You have Bun E Carlos, the cool drummer whose beat carries the tunes. Finally (throughout 2/3 of Cheap Trick's history), you have the ultra-hip Tom Peterson, whose heavy rhythm gives their sound more punch. They've given us hard rocking songs like "Surrender," "She's Tight," their take on Fats Domino's "Ain't That A Shame" as well as power ballads like "Voices," "Tonight It's You" and "The Flame," not to mention one of the greatest live albums of all time, At Budakon. Think of how much more fun their guitar collection would ma... Read more

Cheap Trick appealed more to the youth of the late 1970s and early 1980s than any other band during a time when disco ruled popular music. If you needed to hear excellent new rock during the disco era, you listened to Cheap Trick, The Cars, Boston, Kansas, Supertramp, Queen and Journey.

This is by far the hardest working band in the history of Rock and Roll and deserve to be in there.

I love Cheap Trick, and they are still one of the best live shows going today.  I would love to see them in the R & R Hall of Fame.  I don't think they will get there, due to the rock writers being snobs and putting people like Madonna in.  When was the last time she made a rock album or influenced anyone in a rock band?  A lot of bands are snubbed, and I think Cheap Trick will be one of them.

Not only all the great songs (the first 4 studio albums alone- Cheap Trick, In Color, Heaven Tonight and Dream Police should get them in)+ add At Budokan live and highlights of All Shook Up and Lap of Luxury and how could they be kept out? Rockford-their 2006 CD- is wonderful! And the song Scent of a Woman, from 2003's Special One, ranks among their best- just didn't get the airplay.

They produced one of the worst songs ever with "If You Want My Love". Whilst I'm not familiar with their earliest worst, one does not know what putting them in would actually endorse. Would it be their late 1980s and early 1990s hits, which are really annoying pop/metal?? Or their influence on rather annoying power pop bands via their early albums?? As you can see, i would not accept either argument.

CT is among the surviving classic bands after the British Invasion. They refuse to be labeled as "retro." They continue to rock with a mix of ballads and loud songs that make a statement. Rockford can be proud of their favorite sons!

One of the best live bands in rock history. Zander is the perfect rock vocalist. Worn-out hippie/boomers have gotten all sorts "turds" in the RRHOF. Shouldn't legit hero bands of the next generation be given the same chance?

A quality band from Chicago that certainly stands out amongst the sea of Arena Rock garbage that permeated the decade. They were a fun band! They made some good albums. I say yes!

There would be no such thing as power pop without Cheap Trick. Too many up and coming musicians to count list them as an influence. They are still together with ALL of their original members, and still making music, although they don't get the attention they deserve. They are completing deserving of entry in the Rock Hall!

If you are putting them in for their albums up to Dream Police, give them five stars and a full hearted yes. However, anything past that is a no. Maybe not consistent enough to be in, but they're influential so yes.

Ok-maybe some of their songs are mediocre, but I Want You to Want Me and especially Dream Police will always be fun to listen to. Even kids nowadays, conditioned to listen to rap, rebel and funk to these old jams.

Cheap Trick is one of the most underrated bands! They are have inspired many of the now-popular bands and are more respected than most people know. How could they NOT be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? They should already have been accepted in my opinion!
