 | zuchinibut (35) 02/23/2006 | Shani Davis becoming the first black American to win an individual gold medal is a huge story, but he did have the situation where he let down his speedskating teammates in the team competition. I think its great that he is a champion, but by neglecting the team aspect of the Olympics for his own personal glory, I think he missed part of the point of representing your country.

 | excelsior30 (8) 02/22/2006 | Many reasons why he is one that I won't like despite he is representing Team USA:
1: He has decided to focus on himself- he did not want to participate in team competition.
2: Disinterested- In one interview, he was succinct and did not give much descrption in his drive to a gold.
3: Bias- He somewhat shows that his race is far superior. I do not blame some of the team to not like him.
Depite he lives in the shanty part of Chicago, he should show sportsmanship to all classes and races as the Olympics are for everyone to participate in.
