 | irishgit (155) 03/06/2006 | Congratulations. I can't say the same about myself, and I don't feel hellish guilt about the youthful follies of my increasingly distant past.
But this is about you, not me, and its a good choice.

 | EschewObfuscation (71) 03/06/2006 | Me neither. I just can't tell you how common canadasucks' viewpoint is and how often I've heard it. When you reach my age, still drug free, sometimes you feel a bit like a dinosaur. But when i told my kids, "just say no" I never have felt like a hypocrite.

 | numbah16tdhaha (162) 02/21/2006 | Good choice. I stay away from that garbage on account of my uncle who I'm named after not even being a speck in my memory due to his drug related death when I was about two years old. My mom has since told me that I'm just like he was before he got on his various drugs and I don't really want to mess that up.

 | Vudija (100) 02/21/2006 | Oscar: I'm not quite sure why I never got into it; as I've had plenty of opportunities to get involved over the years. I didn't grow up seeing what it actually did to people, so I can't say I'm traumatized or smething like I can with my disaste for alcohol. I'd say though, if pot was the worst you got into, especially during the 70's and 80's...you were doing pretty well yourself, especially if you lived in an area where it was common to use the harder things that you listed in your comment.

 | oscargamblesfro (82) 02/21/2006 | Good on you vudija, can't say I haven't in the past, avoided hard drugs my whole life- fortunately saw what THAT did in my community growing up in the 70's and 80's, grew up in Dorchester, a working class area of Boston, there was a big problem with coke, smack, angel dust to go along with boozing, there and in Charlestown MA, etc. But did go through a let's smoke pot and drink all day and listen to Floyd and Hendrix and watch "A Clockwork Orange" phase in my teens and early 20's, but though I had no problems with it, just decided to quit all recreational drugs and drinking in my mid 20's, they don't help you with anything IMO, though I could care less what others do in their own lives. You're doing good kid.
