One of the most famous images of the 20th century, and one of the most searing in the history of warfare. She lives in Toronto: I heard her interviewed on NPR, and it was a beautiful interview. What struck me was how kind she was, and after all her reconstructive surgery, all her pain, all her recovery, she was filled with forgiveness for those who had done this to her, and wished only that people would try to live in peace with one another. Her interview was as powerful as the image.

this one stuck in my mind. It was a heartbreaking reminder that civilians were being affected by this war. the naked little girl crying and in pain.you would have to be pretty heartless not to feel bad for these kids who did nothing. I know they showed Kim years later on some news show to see what became of her.

Although I don't know a whole lot about the Vietnam War or even that era, I have to say that historically, this is one of the most important pictures in the history of warfare. It seemed to turn even more people against the Vietnam War, and Kim Phuc became one of the very few personal Vietnamese victims of the war.
