Staffed one in college in Santa Cruz. We had a retired chef who had cooked for a fancy italian restaraunt mere blocks away, and his minestrone soup was legendary. When he cooked, you had the option of going to the restaraunt and paying 5 dollars for a bowl (a high price in the 1980s), or you could have all you want for free if you were willing to sit with homeless people.
