I've used this for years to dismiss the pathetic excuses my children have come up with for not doing their homework, chores, walking the dog, etc. I thought it was better than telling an eight year old that he was lying through his teeth. Come to think of it though, it does sound like the front man for one of the more wretched bands of the British Invasion. You know, one of those Herman's Hermits clones. "Ish Kabibble and the Dribbles."

Acoording to the book "Heavens to Betsy" this word was widely thought to mean "I should worry"(no big deal). If anyone remembers Kay Kyser, they will know that there was a character named Ish Kabbible played by Merwin Bogue.Supposedly, this was aJewish phrase...although there is some doubt here. By the way,if Cybill Shepherd married Ish Kabibble she would be Cybill Kabibble.
