This one is great and I love these dreams, but I took away one star because I'm a commercial airline pilot and it occassionally happens while I'm at work.

Only a couple of times, and one of those was combined with a sex dream. Talk about being on top of the situation...

I believe flying is something totally different than what the description here is. To each is own.

Don't know if this counts or not (it's more like floating); I'm chest-down, atop a large, orange ball (like the ones used for dodgeball in gym class, only bigger), hovering high in the air above winteresque scenes of bare trees, open fields, and Bavarian castles; I can control every aspect of the flight (speed, ascent, descent, etc.) by squeezing my knees into the sides of the ball, and by pressing my hands onto certain spots on the ball; I'm not the least bit cold, no one's being chased or followed, the whole dream's as quiet as the grave, and I'm the only person in it; it's in full hi-def Technicolor, and almost feels like being in the middle of an IMAX film; goes on for what seems like hours, and I always feel refreshed when I wake up from this one.

I've had this dream often but more when I was younger than I do now. I would always have to start by running until suddenly I would lift off and go. The thing that struck me most about these dreams is that it seemed entirely possible and almost like something I always knew I could do but had just not tried until then.

Much more so when I was younger but still every now and then. Its odd but the common factor in my dreams like this is that I start out being able to leave the earth with ease and fly above tree level watching all below as if on a low flying helicopter. With each time I have to land, it becomes harder to get air and I cannot fly as high until it becomes impossible to remain in the air at all. I wish I knew what this means. They all do have a meaning that comes from our subconcious mind.

I've had them often but not as often as the ones where I'm being chased. Sometimes I'll be getting chased and be able to escape by flying. The fun dreams are when I'm able to fly and I can kick butt.

Not too long ago, I dreamt that I was flying away from a sexual predator in my neighborhood. That was just awkward.

More often dreamt when I was a kid. But. lately, my feet stay on the ground in my dreams.

I still have this recurring dream. What strikes me odd is that I really seem to be able to see the neighborhood from the air as it really is, even though, in reality I have never flown over it. A similar dream that I have is that I'm back in my parents backyard and I start jumping and I start getting higher and higher until I can see over the house and eventually higher than the trees, and then suddenly it stops and I can't jump anymore.

Rarely happens, but it was pretty neat when it did.

Escapism at its best. The real lucid ones, where you are aware and able to "steer" your body to whatever destinations you desire, are the most satisfying. Sometimes, however, it's easy to short-circuit, mentally, and it can sometimes spiral into a "falling" dream, which usually jars you awake. I haven't had one of these dreams in years.

I am 25 and still have dreams about flying all of the time... the only downside to this, is that I finally realize that I am in a "dream." So I fall to my death.

I don't dream about this anymore, but these were always happening when I was a kid. Flying rules.
