The band was great in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and they are still popular today!!!0

Last Forth of July with the original Beach Boys was in 1983. December 28th of that same year, they lost drummer Dennis Wilson. Alas, they were still the Beach Boys, and, in 1988, " Kokomo " went to number 1 and they were popular all over again. They continued to do concerts straight through the nineties until Carl Wilson was gone. A few of them still toured together and they each have had solos. Wonderful group. Incidentally, I remember looking it up on the internet a very long time ago, and, I don't think there is really a place called Kokomo.4

They had one amazing songwriters, two very talented ones, and a few angelical voices.
I think Carl and Dennis Wilson are underrated as songwriters. Listen to "Celebrate the news" and tell me Dennis should have just played drums.
I love the Beach Boys.

I don't care one bit for Mike Love as a person or a personality, but Brian Wilson is one of the true musical geniuses that America has known and the Beach Boys made songs that are as fresh, alive, and invigorating as ever there has been. Whether being adrenelin fueled, Chuck Berry styled rockers, ("Fun, Fun, Fun", "Surfin' U.S.A.", "I Get Around"), starry eyed love ballads, ("Surfer Girl", "God Only Knows"), or pseudo-phychedelic fantasys ("Good Vibrations"), Brian could create an array of sounds that would make your head swim and your heart pump. Their vocal harmonies were as good as anyone's and Brian's opus, 'Pet Sounds' is a headphone treat to rival Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' and The Beatles' 'Sgt Pepper.' At their best, this group had as much to offer as anybody. They didn't play like Cream, or The Who, but they could sure get the party started.4
