"...We gonna walk down to Electric Avenue and then we take it HIGH-YAH..." lol :DI like the electronic sound; catchy as hell.

Rasta and synthesizers, are you kidding. Eddy made his own 80's genre.

the best song played @ raves in the late 90's
hotel283 07/18/2006
Great tune, ahead of it's time even if a bit simplistic. Maybe it's because Toronto has a large Jamaican population but they place this song in the clubs and people still go nuts.

Though "Electric Avenue" is a relatively rare reggae tinged hit and I'm a fan of the genre, the single has never been one of my favorites. Nevertheless, the song was hugely popular, the commercial success of which was boasted by its funk undertones and the rise of MTV. "Electric Avenue" charted in the U.S. for 15 weeks in 1983 (peaking at #2) and remains a favorite cover of reggae-influenced artists.

i really liked it when i first heard but after hearing a few times it sounds so fake. no extra special talent coming through.

My buddy Ted said the older gentleman that lived across the hall from him moved to a building on a street called Electric Avenue. Just to let you know its in Milwaukee.
kingguiness 01/24/2006
Admittedly a watered down commercialized reggae tune but done well. Electric Avenue is a Reggae pop masterpiece!
