Never heard of it, but sounds fun where so many religious holidays are so somber. Even the name is fun. Maybe it works!

There are many such traditions throughout the world where loud noise is believed to drive out bad spirits.This is probably where the tradition of noisemakers on New Years Eve came from.This one sounds like a lot of fun.
