World Moving cost us about $1,000 more than quoted and contracted our Chicago to Washington move to an extremely sloppy and unprofessional outfit called Able Moving, based in Chicago, that lost a box of valuable household items and severely damaged several pieces of furniture. World Moving charged us "shuttle fees" at our origin and destination, despite prior notice that shuttles were not required by law at either location, were not needed for the move, and not in fact used. After mind-bogglingly shady failures to return calls, hang-ups, and giving us non-existent callback numbers, World finally responded when we disputed their charges with our bank. Representatives from World Moving merely cited a “lack of proper permit” for a full-sized truck in vague generality, despite my repeated inquiries as to what parking or other permits were lacking. World Moving representatives’ assertion that “county permits” were needed is laughably erroneous and demonstrates their willingness to mindlessly obfuscate a fair resolution of the issue without any basis in reality, because Washington, DC is not in ANY state or county and that Cook County, Illinois has absolutely NO jurisdiction over traffic or parking laws within the corporate limits of Chicago. We had at least 75 feet of curb space reserved and cleared at each location, and know for a fact that roads leading to each location from the appropriate nearby interstates had no truck restrictions. 53' moving trucks in fact regularly service each building. The Able driver admitted to us that they used their regular line, Illinois-licensed truck to move our property all the way from Chicago to our building, along with another customer's goods. In charging a shuttle fee where a shuttle was neither needed, required, nor actually used, World and Able violated FMCSA regulations. World's fraudulent actions also put them in violation of a host of state laws.Hopefully the detail provided here evidences that my horrific experiences with World, consistent with the others on this site, are legitimate. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. This group of individuals are CONARTISTS, corrupt. I booked with 'Carolos' in February for a move in JUne. I paid almost $700 up front as deposit. I was told they would contact me the week before the move to finalise arrangements. That week was a nightmare. I got concenrned when i had not heard from them by MOnday and called only to be told they would call back and they didnt. I called innumerable times that week. They told me that they had no mover organised to haul my stuff 3000 miles. I could not break the contract because they had until the end of the week. I was deaLing with Benajmin re the move. He stopped answering my calls. Didnt call me back. Didnt answer emails. Then i contacted Carlos. He too refused to answer his phone. Clearly they would screen the calls. I did catch them out with skype as they didnt recognise the number. They were abrupt rude and had no solutions. Customer service and the operator would just leave me hanging on the line indefinitely. Carlos even tried to tell my sister who contacted him on my behalf that it was a different Carlos she was looking for. LIARS. CORRUPT. These people should not be in business. In the end i had to wait til the contract expired. Turn around anD hire a UHAUL trunk and trailor and drive the 3000 miles myself at huge cost. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE TROUBLE

Funny - I had filled out some online tool about getting estimates to move. So the guy from World Moving Services called me today. When I told him I had gotten a lot of other estimates over the last few days, he said "Well you were the one who filled out the online form!" Then he told me I need to check out their BBB rating to which I replied I was looking at a ton of reviews that rated them TERRIBLE. He got very defensive and asked where I got the ratings from claiming he hadn't even given me the name of his company. I finally told him thanks and had to hang up on him b/c he was getting so rude and defensive.

Absolutely awful…… I like everyone else gave the $700 deposit!! UGH after that I started getting calls from all these other moving companies. And one which I thought was someone from WORLD MOVING SERVICES… but wasnt. Explained who they actually were - broker, jack rates up after the fact… etc, so he saved me.. in a way. My problem was I had already agreed and my move was immediate.. so based on their crap*ss paperwork, I had no chance to cancel without losing my deposit!!! Tried explaining to my CC company that they are STEALING money from me and other people. So in the end they are just THEIVES!!! Stay AWAY far far away… And if PETER MANFREDI calls you. HANG UP!

The stories that you read about this company are all true! Hate to say live and learn, but that is what you will do if you do not read this review and NOT go running in the other direction. World Moving Services use very friendly and knowledgeable people over the phone. They try to sound like they are your best friend, beware!!!. This is a broker not a mover, and what they say the weight is, (which they way over estimate..quote) is not going to be what the actual movers are going to say it is. They will tell you that you have the right to a re-weigh. This is what you have to do. Go with them to the weigh station, (who know where the heck it is could be over 50 miles) Have all of your belongings taken off the truck as well as whatever other items that are on the truck. Weigh the truck, then reload all of your belongings and re-weigh the truck. Who would go through all of this especially when they probably are not going to use the best of care reloading. They know they have you by the you know whats. This is such a big scam. My son moved to Michigan from Florida using a repuable agency. They had is weight of goods at 2750lbs. He moved back to Florida with less things, (not less lighter things and more heavier things) He actually left very heavy boxes at my house. The company World contracted with came up with a total of 3500lbs. Of course 500lbsa over estimate. Do not use this company period. They do not use reputable movers, fly by night. The one thing I ask of anyone who has been robbed like I have and may read this, please help me post something that anyone else who might fall prey to there sceam. The is a power in numbers and we need to stick together to shut this business down.

This is the worst move I have ever made! They claim that they will weigh the truck and charge based on the weight of my items, but when they weigh the truck in South Carolina, drive to New Jersey to pick up my items (two days later), and then weigh the truck again 24 hours later in Massachusetts it makes me wonder just how honest they are - especially when I am told that the furniture (mostly inexpensive, college student quality) in a small one bedroom apartment weighs over 4 tons. The guaranteed price didn't count for anything! If they guaranteed your price for moving 5 large boxes and 5 medium boxes but the movers that show up think that 6 of your boxes are large and only 4 are medium sized then the guarantee goes out the window and they can charge you whatever they want. They don't tell you this until they are dropping off your things and they hold everything hostage until you pay them. The contract guaranteed a free re-weighing of the truck if I wanted one. I asked for one but they refused. Finally they agreed that they would re-weigh my load, but only if I paid hundreds of dollars extra for their time and the distance they had to drive to get to a scale - they made this price so high that they knew I wouldn't agree and would be forced to accept the initial weight. The service was great up until World Moving Services got my check. After that I couldn't get a hold of anyone who knew what was going on. When I would speak with someone I was told they were on another call and would get right back to me. An hour later I would call back and get voice mail. They did return my call, 5 days later, when I had already paid the inflated price to get my things back. They refused to help me get a refund for the over charging and damage that was done to my things. They told me, "We did our part, you need to deal with the subcontractors about any issues." What is the point in using World Moving Services if they aren't going to help with the subcontractor that they chose to hire?At one point during all of the arguments with the subcontractor's main office I asked my driver/mover what he would do in my situation. He said, "Oh, I would never hire a moving company - you can't trust them!" When I pointed out that he worked for the moving company he informed me, "That is how I know you can never trust them." I guess that says it all.

This past summer, I felt that it was way too hot, even for South Florida. I contacted them to push the earth's orbit out another 100,000 kilometers, and they said they couldn't do it. Hrumph. Hrumph. Hey, I didn't get a hrumph out of that guy...

I contacted world Moving to make my move. After making all the necessary contacts and giving them nearly 700$ the madness began. At the time of my belongings arrived I found out that the money I gave them was an additional fee on top of the original estimate. The original estimate was based on weight which is next to impossible to do over the phone let alone the the actual movers ended up basing my fee on the # of boxes not weight!! The original estimate was 1500$ it ended up being 1800$ the fee added on top of that took my final $$ to 2500$$ , 1000$ over the original estimate. World Moving does'nt do the actual moving, they sub-contract out the moving to a third party. This company never told me that their fee was an additional fee on top of what the movers charged!!! I would never use or recomend them to any one no one decerves this kind of headache. If your going to move use a national reputable company and make sure that they come out to your place and do an actual/on site estimate!!!!
Gary26 11/09/2010
As with others who have reviewed this "moving company", it was the most horrible move I have ever encountered when my daughter moved.. The hidden fees they so conviently forget to mention doubled the cost, They showed up 9 hours late and went until 4AM loading. Then the truck broke down en route and took almost 2 weeks to finally reach her. There was damage to several items that they kept saying was already there, despite photos to the contrary. Then to top it off, many items were stolen enroute. Other boxes showed evidence that they had been opened and searched. We ended up losing most of the very nice china, the brand new vacuum cleaner, all box and canned food and many other things. The first indication that this is a shoddy operation is the labeling system. NO NUMBERS on the boxes, just a box/item total on the paperwork. Unless you stand there and count each item as it comes in (including piece parts to beds, etc) you have no way of identifying if everything is there and what is missing. If you have things you want to be rid of and want to pay for their removal, just schedule this group. Why anyone would choose this company is beyond me.

0 stars!!! This was the WORST experience in moving I have ever had!! And my biggest mistake was NOT reading the reviews prior to signing a contract with them! My move ended up being TRIPLE than what they gave me for an estimate!! I was assured there would be a nationwide moving van at my house...and, surprise...it was an unmarked white truck with three men that could barely speak English, let alone understand it! The person who was "going to work side by side" with me throughout the move could not be reached when my furniture was being held hostage. And when the furniture was delivered, I got a call from World Moving Services asking if my things had been delivered? When i said they had just finished, she said "OK" and hung up!! Amazing there was no question about whether I was satisfied or not, & needless to say, there wasn't even a thank you for letting us do the job!! If anything positive came of this move...it's the fact that I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau...as well as any consumer protection agency I can find!! I have moved and been moved across the country nine times...and, this by far was the worst experience ever!! Don't be as stupid as I was!! Read the reviews of World Moving Services...and don't make the $2400 dollar move that ends up being $7000!!!!!!! In my opinion, this company deserves to be shut down! And, Doug...thanks for abandoning me...you're a real "stand up kind of guy!". I'm sure you'll be enjoying the commission that I provided you with...3 times what you originally sold me on!

0 stars (put your rating here! 1-5 This was a corporate move. I have experienced far less pain with a U-Haul and my own bare hands. The tweedle dumb and tweedle dee team contracted by World Moving is nothing short of a joke. After arriving a day late, it took them 13 hours to move our stuff ( from a modest 1200sf home) from inside to the front yard. They did the initial walk through pointing at each item seemingly disgusted that I was asking them to move ALL my belongings. "yes, I'm taking my dining room furniture. Yes, I want everything in the bedroom to go." I couldn't make them understand I was "moving" 150 miles away, and I was taking ALL of my furniture. It was August, 98 degrees out, and equal humidity. I discovered all our electronics basking in the sun in the front yard after being taken out of the house hours before. I took matters into my own hands and began loading the truck myself. Boxes of dishes were dropped onto the concrete front porch. They attempted to take the sofa out w/o removing the legs causing damage to the door and breaking the frame of the sofa ( a $230 Repair) legs broken off of 2 dressers, 2 bookshelves that had to be thrown away. Not to mention the painful hours of carefully removing the tape residue from all of my wooden furniture because clear packing tape had been wrapped around everything to "secure" it. During the nightmare, I called customer service to complain. The lady yells at me, tells me "World Moving is not responsible for the damage", and gives me another # to call for complaints. I call this #, it's the cell of the clown who's moving me, he answered from my driveway. At 5:30pm, I'm told they can't fit any more items on to their truck. They failed to mention earlier someone else's things had been loaded prior and were still on the truck. It took 2 more days to get our stuff ( only 150 miles). And we were able to fill a 17 ft U-Haul with the things they left behind ( which we moved ourselves in only one day). They low balled the weight estimates during the quote process. This means since they only pay 60 cents per pound of the damaged items, I'll be lucky if I can replace even one of the items they destroyed. ( i should mention our company had to threaten them with the legal dept. to get them to e-mail us a damages form). This was a paid move by our company. If I could have a "do over" I'd do it myself.

Absolute nightmare. Worst moving experience in over 20 cross country moves. We called them 8 weeks in advance of move. They had more than enough time to coordinate and they got NOTHING right except the add on's and add up's and every contingency that would cost more money. They called me on a Friday and over the phone a guy named Ben went through the "contingencies" with me to explain why I needed to triple the deposit. Just like the last review I read, they lowballed the initial estimate to get us to go with them and then the week before the move was "supposed" to happen they call and demand another $2000! The guy assured me over and over that these were just contingencies and they would refund the money when they didn't happen - what it turned out was he "booked" the move with another company in such a way that the charges were going to happen no matter what. They never told me that they were "contracting" the move out. So, pick up didn't happen on time which meant the delivery date that the salesman promised me didn't happen. I was scrambling with work and other matters for 2 weeks and they never got it right. Once the salesman makes his promises that no on intends to keep you go dispatch where you deal with nasty people who don't give a rat's ass about you because they have your money and you're on the hook. Don't bother asking for a supervisor, I spoke with one and he was the worst of all - the contract is written to give them all of the advantage. They have all kinds of options, contingencies, loopholes etc. Bottom line - yu're gettin screwed and you're paying them top dollar to do it. When the pick up fell apart, and the delivery date fell apart and the contracted company dropped the ball - I couldn't get a call back from Worldwide to save my life. I kept calling and I kept getting lied to. One person would tell me one thing and the very next would say "we can't do that" "we can't promise that." I would have been less frustrated to take the $4,000 that they (legally) stole from me - (yes it was technically in the contract - I did ask what everything meant - but no one told me the estimator LIED to me about what the numbers meant until it was all over and I was faced with them either driving my stuff back out of state or paying for it and getting the nightmare behind me. They have NO customer service - it is all about screwing the customer. If you deal with these people - they will lie, they will cheat, they will screw it up. You will pay top dollar for it all. The only thing they were successful at was taking an already stressful and expensive experience (moving) to a new level that you can't even anticipate. Horrible experience from beginning to end!!!!!!!!

This is the first review that I have ever written. People have failed to serve me at resturants. I have also been bumped from flights. So, appreciate that it would really take a lot to get me to express my discontent online. Tomas Lee and Benjamin Aaronson can only be compared to conartists. I was given a "not to exceed quote" and led to believe that it was binding. Of course, the need for extra changes emerged 3 days before my move. I was told that if certain services were not delivered, I would get a refund. When I called back, I was told that refunds are never given. So, my $1400 move turned into a $3000 move--much more than the market rate. Trying to figure this all out took over 20 hours of time on the phone (trust me, I went over on my phone minutes). I was placed on hold and no one ever called back to answer my questions. To add insult injury, some of my goods were destroyed by the delivery company that they sub-contract to (Movers Express). The movers said that they "noted" my damages. They also called their company in front of me. I filed my papers in the usual way (including pictures)" and was sent a letter that says:"Upon inspection of items on delivery, no notes were made for any damages occurered during the move and all tghe household good items were received in the same condition as the origin. Xpress Movers will assume no responsibility to any woods furniture due in teh event of loss or damage because of its nature."I was told that protesting this would cost me $250 through an arbitration court. World Moving was uninterested in helping.I can only say that I've used movers before, but this was absolutely the worst moving and general customer service experience that I've ever had. I would not wish these people upon my enemy. I can only advise you, if you for some reason are conned into going with these guys, to save all documents, because you will likely to want to bring these people to court.

To date this has been the worst experience of my life. I did everything in a prompt manner that they needed from me but I can say that was returned. I was told over a week ago that my things would arrive last weekend. Another week has passed and have never received a call, email or anything from a rep. I, myself through a 3rd party got a number for the driver who informed me he was on days off and my things were in Dallas but gave me another number to call that is a sub contracted trucking company who informs me that WMS never had the authority to tell me when my things would arrive that they do not do the scheduling. As of the writing of this review I still have not heard a word from WMS nor the trucking company whom I don't even know the name of. I was told I would be contacted a few days before the arrival of my things. NOTHING!!!I began making calls to the man whom took care of my paper work only to be told over and over that no one by that name worked for the company. DUHHHHH should have beeen my first red flag.Absolutely the worst customer service ever!!!!Go with a more established and well known company even if the cost is higher as least you will know what is going on with your personal things.
jmccormi 09/25/2010
I have moved to 7 different states in my life and by far this moving company was the worst. You have to deal with too many people right from the beginning. Then no one is held accountable when things go bad. They all blame each other. Please ask if a 3rd party will be moving your belongings...I didn't even know this was a possibility. They don't disclose anything. They sold me "special" boxes and packaging for my HD TV's and all they were was a regular cardboard box with a blanket wrapped around the TV...I paid alot extra for their special packaging. I also paid to have each of my bikes crated. The sales person said that "x" number of feet was the amount I needed to crate each bike and it was "x" price. When the movers got to my house they did not crate anything. They actually bubble wrapped the bikes. I called to find out why they were not crated and of course I could never get the original sales person on the phone again. The person told me on the phone that the sales person didn't even sell me enough to crate one bike and it was thousands of dollars. When my belongings got to my house they fought me with the fact that I had paid for them to unpack. It took them about 2 hours to finally figure out that I did pay and they were to unpack. 3/4 of my belongings were ruined. Wine glasses broken, things missing, wheel missing from my bike, they packed lotions and candles with my cloths, etc, etc. Just stay away. Do NOT do business with them. I promise there are better movers out there....just don't use this one....even if they were the last movers in the World!!!

0 stars DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! Wow, what a batch of bad reviews here. I wish I had seen this before my move. The man who quoted me could not have been nicer before the deal was done. He came in lower than the other company and was able to promise me my move dates. The other company (Allied) came in and gave a quote and had their own drivers. I know others who have used them with good experiences. I was lured by a move that would be $500 cheaper and in the end paid about $50 more!!They farm out the jobs... find a company that has their own driver, comes to your house to estimate and gives you a firm price. Get that in writing. I flat out asked Thomas Lee when he gave me the quote what would happen if the weight was over and he told me it wouldn't be. He assured me that he had factored in a lot of extra weight. Sure wish I had presed him for a firm answer (sucker). He later called me a liar "customers always lie when they estimate", nice change of tune Thomas! I was killing myself to give an honest estimate. I even told him about a few small pieces I missed, "don't worry about it, we have plenty of extra weight factored in, you may even be lighter that the estimate and get money back".The driver called me 5 days prior to my move to say they were ready to pick up! I told them I could was not ready til Thursday. He called back on Tuesday and said he would be there tomorrow (Wed). He was waiting at a local hotel and aggravated that I was not able to move early. They brought a truck that was too small... everything fit but it was touch and go and a bit stressfull. The movers were okay. Not as careful as I liked. I caught him scraping a wall with a bed frame, very careless. He was more careful after I noticed. They were a little careless about where they put stuff too. Also, they never seemed to notice the large yellow FRAGILE stickers! Thankfully only 2 things broke. He told me he left a wheel off the scale so my weight would not be so high. He says his first weigh in was 5K over estimate ($2000!) but he got it down to about $500 over estimate. I don't know if he actually did that or if it was just to get a big tip. They called me and made me send a copy of my license and credit card along with a signed doc that said I would not dispute charges. They wanted this all copied and faxed after the truck was loaded and verified that it was paid before it was unloaded. Of course this was not mentioned before my fax and copier were packed. Now I realize that a wardrobe size box is missing. I bet they dumped it somewhere cause they were out of room or just because...it was shady. I felt uneasy too because they have all your stuff on the truck so you have to be nice. Hope this saves you a mistake!

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! Here are what I had, eventually what you will get if you use them...(1) The estimator (Named CARLOS, *** ) will promise you whole a lot things, that really not true...( I ordered full services, including packing, then they ended up charging me 670$ more...)(2) The third party moving company will drive a huge truck to your place from really far away (My case, the driver drove a huge truck from NJ to DC, late for sure), and if this giganic truck cannot get in to your place, EXTRA COST.(3) They didn't find a car moving company to move my car after my household stuffs had been moved to the new place for a while. I ended up renting for a car in the new place for more than 3 weeks. The customer service lady (Name Julia, I really really hate her...) keep calling me everyday to ask for extra time for them to locate a carrier for my vehicle. No matter you agree or not, she will just do it ... looks like her job is just letting me know, not trying to solve the problem...(4) The huge truck cannot get inot my community, then they ask for extra cost to use small truck, even though I really just move one-bedroom apartment, my stuffs cannot even fulfill a Small U-Haul. (5) I argued with the customer service about extra cost of using small truck, their answer is: if I don't want to pay the extra cost for delivery with a smaller truck, I will be pay the storage fee everyday since they will move my stuffs into a storage place.(6) No matter how many times I called the estimator or leave messages, looks like he dispeared forever since I paid the initial deposit. I don't want you to have such a headache with them,,, really really don't use this company ....never ever!!!!! (4)

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! Here is the story. The driver was in LA and needed to come up to Fresno to move out stuff to Idaho. It took him two days to get to Fresno from LA. His excuse was that he had a flat tire. Right! He was supposed to be at the house at 8am. After numerous phone calls and the guy hanging up on my wife twice he finally showed up at 11am. The two day laborers he had for help looked fresh out of prison dew rags and all. Well after spending half the day in his truck, which also kept the helpers from helping, the truck was loaded. AFTER 12 HOURS! My 12 year old son swears up and down that the driver was drinking beer and smoking half the time. When it came time to strap the mattress on the back of the truck he lost a strap but continued on anyway. My wife asked him about 7pm when he was going to be done because she had to drive to Lemoore that night and be back in Fresno to pick me up at the airport the next day. The response she got was "By the look on my face you can probably tell I don't like that question" and he walked off. When it was all done the driver didn't even have a pen for the paperwork and smelled like he had just been shit out. OK almost midnight he hits the road. This is July the first. I call him July the third and he is in town and won't answer his phone. I leave a message-nothing. Now it's the fifth. I call and leave 3 meassages on the drivers phone. I leave 3 messages on his dispatchers phone-nothing. I call World Moving and get a call back 6 hours later. I tell them if the driver shows up at my house there is going to be a problem because of the way he treated my wife. They tell me too bad he is contracted for that job. They say they will have the customer service manager call me back. Of course no call back. This driver sucks, World Mover sucks and it's going to suck when I end up in jail for setting the drivers jaw to the other side of his face whenever he shows up to drop off our damaged belongings. Update 7-6-10The driver showed up today but he was on foot. He lives a couple of blocks away. He told my wife he has to have an extra $2600 or he is not going to unload the truck! I guess he figured out that leaving the truck somewhere else so we couldn't block it in was better for him. My wife had to run to the bank and get cash because they wont take a credit card because everyone files a dispute. Nice.

Worst Moving Services!!! Please DONT use this company. We where moving from CO to TX and i was in a rush trying to find a mover. I requested some quotes through Rent.com and this company was one of them, Daniel Almanzar was the person who contacted us and he was very impressive in selling his services. We should have done our homework before signing the contract but we didnt and we paid the price. Mr Daniel was very communicative in the beginning he would call to find out about signing the papers and stuff but once i signed he was no where to be found. I left him messages and emails but no replies from him. When we where making the deal we asked him very specifically are there any hidden charges because if there are any let us know now but he was like nope your bill wont increase unless your mileage changes or weight increases BULLSHIT!!! when i got the final bill they added 500$ for packing can you imagine 500$ for just packing and that too for 6 boxes. Then on the day of deliver nobody calls and after couple days they call me and tell me yea we couldnt find a truck so now your move might be delivered 15 days later no guarantee. I was like are you kidding me... then final they call me to deliver the stuff and i said i am not ready to pay 500$ for boxign 6 boxes and have Daniel call me to resolve this issue nobody calls me back and the dispatcher calls me finally and says sorry we cant find Daniel and i cant really help you you either pay now or we will leave it in a storage and you will have to pay for the storage and pay for your own loading and unloading from there... i was like you just dont care about your customers do you want me to go to court he was like yea sure go ahead i dont care.... WHAT KINDA BULLSHIT COMPANY treats there customers like this. Then the delivery was another story, the truck driver tells me sorry i cant bring the trailor truck into the apartment complex because it cant make the turn to get into the community as it is 72 feet trailer ttruck (the biggest 18 wheeler out there) i am like are you fucking crazy why would you bring the biggest truck to an apartment complex and my stuff was like a single bed room apartment noteven 1/4 of the truck was packed with my stuff he said he did 3 other jobs in the truck and he tells me its not his problem that the truck cant enter and i will have to pay extra now.....They were just trying to rip me off at every oppurtunity they got.... then in the end i said ok lets find out with the leasing office if an 18 wheeler can enter and leave easy and also drive in the car and see how you can make it in. The leasing office said yes there have been plenty of 18 wheelers come and go no problem ask the driver to stop bitching about this and drive the truck. So finally he comes in and he had absolutely no trouble coming inside he didnt even have to check his mirrors to see if he was close to anything .... i was like what was all the drama about .... finally they delivered the stuff and luckily nothing was damaged or lost i think... still have to unpack my stuff but yea PLEASE DONT USE THIS COMPANY !!!!!!!

My daughter and son-in-law recently used World Moving and had an awful experience. The horror stories you read about here are true. They lie to you, add extra charges, all of it. One review referred to it as "Bait and Switch". I would agree with that statement. I am writing this review in the hope that it will keep someone from using this company. I hope that this review will cost World Moving future business. My daughter and son-in-law were overcharged and suffered a lot of stress in dealing with World Moving. DO NOT USE THEM!

I got a quote and almost made a deposit before reading online about this company. After checking the BBB and various review sites, i found they had a very negative rating. When World Moving called me later and i told them i looked at BBB, the representative claimed that the BBB was "created by Al Capone in the 50's". At this point I hung up the phone. I have a very strong feeling this place will rip you off. Stay away!

UPDATE AS OF 6/4/10I contacted my credit card company to see if I could cancel the balance I owe them at the end of the move. Unfortunately, it was too late since the charge has already been processed. But, the credit card company was able to start a dispute file and they temporarily credited my account by the amount I requested ($1,000).I also submitted a claim report for the missing and damaged items with the company that handles World Moving claims. They took about 4 weeks to get back to me and finally sent paperwork to me stating they could only reimbursement $97.My credit card company and the claim department are now "discussing" the next steps..... Four months after the move and I'm still dealling with this nightmare!!!!! If only I had done my research prior to the move!**********************OMG!!! THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST!! Please DO NOT use this company...you WILL BE sorry!!! My first encounter was with Benjamin Aaronson. He really knows how to sell the company!! I hope they are paying him plenty. So he made all of these promises that I fell for like a fool. As soon as I called him to discuss my issues and concerns, his charm flew out the window and he had a very condesending attitude. My next contact was with Karlos Stevenson (another one who claimed that he will be following my process all the way through since he is in charge of Customer Service.) Ok, I fell for that one too!Fast forward to the moving day....two "old" men (late 50's and mid 60's) came to move me. Are you kidding me??? PLUS they did not speak English only Russian. Wow...if only I spoke Russian. They had bad body odor and took plenty of smoke breaks. They were extremely unprofessional. The left my place a total mess. Used tape, paper, cardboard left everywhere. I had to go behind them and clean up.The day they deliver was even worst! Some of the stickers were missing off the boxes. I noticed right away an item missing and was told that they put it in one of the boxes. I opened the box and noticed the lamp was broken! I was missing at least 2 boxes and a few items not boxed. I called the driver and dispatch to ask about the items and have been given the run around for the past week. Boxes looked as if they had been opened. Some boxes were crushed badly! My mattress and box spring were both dirty around the edges. When I pointed it out to the delivery guy, he told me to just clean it. (huh?)I emailed World Moving Services and did not hear back (of course). I called and was disconnected a few times. I called the claim department and now awaiting forms to complete.PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I plan to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

I feel like a sucker and I am. Don’t let this happen to you. They flat out lie to you to get you to sign with them and put down a deposit. After that they do not answer any phone calls and give you the run around with customer service. My favorite is when they put you on hold and then just hang up. I have had three different people handle my move. No one will answer their phone when I call. The movers are shady and they keep adding things to my bill. My stuff is being held hostage till I pay double what they told me. I dealt with Lamar and Carlos. Do not be a sucker, if they already have your deposit it is sunk cost, get out now!!!!

This was the worse company I have ever tried to deal with, I started to work with world moving in April to set up my daughter's move from Reno, Nevada to St. Cloud Florida. We had all the paperwork done and deposit made April 21 with the move to be June1&2. June1 comes we here nothing and in the middle of the day my daughter calls and finds out that there is no truck assigned to the move yet. I had been getting the run around from Thomas Lee for the last 2 weeks before the date and when June 1 came he was no where to be found to help us after claiming he would follow the move from start to finish. Come June 2nd and they still don't have a carrier so I ask for my deposit back so I can start finding someone to do the move, I am told I have to wait until 11:59 that night before they will refund which puts me in a real bad position do I wait or just find a different moverdo to the job. I was able to find a mover who could pick it up on the weekend and get it down to Florida that was Budget Van Lines who were very good and professional coming to my rescue and not charging me anymore. I was prepared to give up my deposit to find a mover to do the job and that would have been $1270, I made a request for my deposit back today let's see how long that will takealso have left numerous messages to Thomas Lee e-mail and phone and still have not heard from the idiot. For a peace of mind don't use this company period it does not even get a star from me.

Here is my story, we were moving from KY to IL, we contacted these people, and the quote was given, we paid the initial amount, the mistake I made was that I did not see the reviews before signing. Anyway after signing the contract I had few questions and I kept on calling with no response. On the scheduled day of move, we waited and waited and waited, nobody showed up, we called them again and again, no response. We waited that day, around 5PM I got a call from a lady that movers will be at my place tomorrow, and movers are very busy in NC. Next day we again started waiting, nobody showed up and we did not had any information when they will be. So, we waited for two days with no one showed up. The third day we rented a UHAUL in the morning, hired couple of guys to looad the stuff. By the time we were loading, two guys showed up and asked us about move, they started telling stories that we were busy, road was bocked bla bla, but I told them planly that we dont need you anymore. After they left thier supervisor called me that they will give me discount etc etc, but I was mad that they wasted two days for me. Anyway we had to move by ourself and had to go through all this pain of not knowing whats happ1ening. I asked them again and again to refund my deposit which they did after a lot of discussion. You can decide yourself now, what kind of company this is.

next time I will not choose this movers. Ben (benjamin Aaronson) coordinated this job. He talks so great but nothing will happen as per the plan. Your place will become dirty during lifting, Packing guys response is terrible. Get ready for paying min 15% extra what you have been discussed with him. He will say the estimate is at the worst case and He want to do a great job with you. He will talk what ever he can talk to close the deal. He is really expert there and if you are listening then be prepared to have a bad move.**********Please read all review on him, they are available here. If you coordinate with Ben, No doubt that is going to be very bad move.*********

My experiance with worldmoving services was great. i really didnt have that much stuff to move but the guys were on time and worked very hard. i would definitely use worldmoving services again.
Debbiet 04/27/2010
These people suck! My daughter recently moved from Vegas to Atlanta. We were given a reasonable quote so we chose them. They were 9 days late on delivery!! Then, they wouldn't unload her furniture until she coughed up another 250.00 because her apartment was not near the unloading area! And, this is the most ridiculous, the driver (who by the way, was a scumbag) would not accept her money order because it wasn't from the post office. It came from the bank. She had to go to the bank and cash it. The people that we dealt with in getting the contract signed were suddenly not available. NEVER EVER USE THESE WACK JOBS!!!

I recently was faced with moving across the country from California to Florida. I used World Moving Services as they were highly recommended by a great friend of mine. I honestly could not ask for a better moving company. The move went 100% smoothly. No additional stress. My stuff arrived right on time as promised by the kind people at world moving services. The move was from my apartment in Beverly Hills to my new condo in Downtown Miami (Brickell). This move could have been a total disaster but the guys from World Moving Services couldn't have been more professional. I was very impressed with the handling of my personal belongings. Everything arrived perfecly in tact and nothing was missing. All of my fragile items were wrapped perfectly to avoid breakage. I was so suprised with how quickly they packed my stuff and loaded it on the truck. It was so nice to have 1 less thing to worry about while moving. Knowing my things were safe in the hands of World Moving Services made me feel alot more comfortable with my move overall. When my things arrived in Miami, everything was unpacked and set up exactly to my liking. Overall I was extremely impressed with World Moving Services. I'm very greatful to my friend who suggested them to me. I highly suggest any one planning a move use World Moving Services!

I had a good experience with World Moving and would use them again. The guys who moved my furniture were very hard working and did a fine job. My price did go up slightly because my wife forgot to tell the person that handled our move about some items in the attic. Luckily the truck had enough room but this caused the us to go over our budget. Not the end of the world but just one of those unexpected surprises that happens when you relocate. Hopefully this will be our last move for a while. Fingers Crossed!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! All you do is pay them to do something you could do yourself (i.e. call a local moving company in your area and negotiate rates). The sales people I dealt with on the first phone call were very nice. They led me to believe that we had come to an estimate that “unless I was missing a pool table” I would be ok. To my surprise, within days of my move, the company, via Ben Aaronson, contacted me to tell me they wanted to make sure my order was correct. I was led to believe I needed to change my order last minute because Ben told me I needed to adjust the weight for my move (because I supposedly didn’t have enough weight in my first estimate). In reality, the company was trying to get me to change my order so they could charge an ENORMOUS binding estimate fee for the change. As a result of the change I was charged an additional $800 binding estimate fee (from $400 to $1,200). At the time I asked over the phone why my required deposit amount was being increased so much (I had no idea it was the binding estimate fee increase. Ben told me that it increased because of the increase in weight. Ben did not, however, inform me the increase in cost was only slightly due to the increase in weight and actually due to the OUTRAGEOUS INCREASE in binding estimate fee. When I asked if I could just walk away I was told that at that point I would lose my initial deposit (because then it was too close to my actual move date). Ben badgered me until I made the change (a near 2 hour phone call). He left out pertinent details about the reason my costs increased which was something I realized only after the move was complete. The company deceived me in order to take another $800 of my money. There was no additional service performed for this increase. In fact, I had changed my order with Karlos Stevenson a few days before our phone call and my binding estimate fee did not change. The only reason I was charged the extra $800 was because it was within 5 days of my move and I was basically stuck with this company. I consider this charge dishonest, unethical, and unconscionable.I have asked for a refund through multiple venues including filing a formal complaint with the BBB (which was never resolved) and contacting Mr. Aaronson and Mr. Stevenson (via email). As of the date of this complaint the company has not issued a refund. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS. A COMPANY THAT WILL SELL ITS INTEGRITY FOR AN EXTRA $800 IS NOT WORTH DOING BUSINESS WITH!!!

We got our reservation deposit back after a week , did not actually hire them for our move.

I used World Moving services as well! My sales guy, Thomas lee, was the same! Good sales personality with many empty promises! I was relocating from Phoenix to Santa Fe for a job. I was told a semi would be taking my stuff. That they would have saran wrap, moving pads, etc. They showed up, these 3 Eastern European men, (Bosnian, I think) from west Phx. One smelled of alcohol! The truck was a delivery truck the size of a large UHaul. They had no moving pads! I told them my stuff wasn't going to fit in there! At this point, I had no choice but to use them, as I needed to be in Sanat Fe to start my new job. Long story short...stuff did not fit, they shoved stuff in. They had to go get another truck, which they rented from Budget. 2 dressers, piano (40 yrs old and mint), bed, armoir...ALL DAMAGED!! I had some glass top tables. They said I needed them to be boxed, because, of course they had no wrap or pads!!! They charged me for "glass/mirror" boxes. 20-25 dollars each. All they did was cut up old cardboard and tape together for this charge. Of course when they arrived, they held my stuff hostage until I paid in full. The estimate from Tom was $2800. He said that it could not go up, only down. The Bosnians charged me $3800, which I had to give them a money order before they would unload. After pointing out the damage, they said they only refunded 60 cents per pound!!! Guy only had $60, gave to to me and left. Tom at World Wide Moving Serv refunded $100 to my credit card. Rip Off! Dont use!!

My move with world moving services which was magnificent. My husband and I had moved from Boston to Philadelphia, we had to relocate because he was getting a promotion. We found this company through a friend and I did not regret it at all. They picked up and delivered on time, we had a few dents but we expected that with any move their is bound to be some sort of damage. We just want to say thanks to benjamin and thier staff for the wonderful move.

DO NOT USE WORLD MOVING SERVICES: This company is the most unprofessional company that I have ever had the displeasure of working with. They made a truckload of promises that they are yet to fulfill and I am yet to hear from them. I was LURED IN by a guy named Benjamin Aaronson who was very charming and accomodating over the phone. He fed me all these promises of how they were going to take care of me from start to finish during my move and how he was my contact person throughout the whole thing and how I should just call him directly if I had ANY problems or questions because he was going to be there to "hold my hand" throughout the entire process.A few days before my move date I received a call from someone else with World Moving Services who claimed to be checking on my progress. He recommended that I increase my weight and sent paperwork to sign stating the new weight change. I received the paperwork that not only had the weight change but also a rate change. We had questions so we tried to call back but got no answer. We called and left messages with Mr. Aaronson (since we were instructed that this was our contact person) but got no response until two days later. We even sent an email explaining that we had questions before we signed this paperwork. Because we hadn't resubmitted the paperwork, Mr. Aaronson finally called. I immediately told him that I was not happy with how he was handling things and was not pleased that he had not responded to any of our messages. I also reminded him that he promised to be there "holding my hand" the whole time but this was the first time we heard from him since he took our money. Mr. Aaronson was very unapologetic, very nonchalant, and very uninformed to what was going on with our move. He sounded nothing like the guy who had smoothed talked us out of our money just days before. He knew nothing of the rate change, weight change, or that the move date had been pushed back. He claimed to have not received any of my messages. I immediately went online and looked up the company to get more information and saw horror story after horror story involving this company! I was rattled and immediately tried to contact a senior person in the company but what I got was some guy who immediately went on the defensive BEFORE I could even explain what had happened with Mr. Aaronson. It seems that this person was already privy to my conversation with Mr. Aaronson and proceeded to sarcastically apologize for Mr. Aaronson being sick (which was news to me). He then tried to chastize me, telling me that if I was unhappy with Mr. Aaronson that I should have contacted someone in Customer Service. I explained to him that, that was exactly what I was doing afterall, that's was how I got him. He spoke very arrogantly and not to mention defensively and mind you, this is still before I could explain what was going on. He promised me that American Vanlines would be the company to move us. I left specific instructions that if there was a change in moving companies that I wanted to be notified in advance. They assured me they would. After reading the horror stories online of furniture being lost/stolen because they had used other movers, I was now very uncomfortable. At this point, we couldn't get our deposit back and were pretty much just stuck with this company. Since our 19th/20th move date had been pushed back to the 21st we slowed down our packing because we had an extra day. On the morning of the 20th (a day early) around 8:00a.m. we were awakened by a phone call from someone claiming to be from a moving company (not American Vanlines) and they were on the way to our house to move us. I immediately hung up with the driver and called World Moving Services who then informed me that American Vanlines would now NOT be moving me and some company called Coastal would be coming (not the name of the company given to me by the driver). I explained I was not told Coastal but another company name by the driver. The person (Karlos Stevenson) said he would immediately check into it and call me right back. I told them I would be waiting for the call and I wanted to hear from them before the truck got to my home because I didn't want to let some unknown company into my home. I never heard back from Mr. Stevenson or anyone from World Moving Services again.

I hired WMS to move me from NC to FL. The guy I spoke with over the phone was great, very upbeat and prfessional. On the day of the move the guys came and did everything that they told me they would. The guys from American worked their butts off to get me out of my house in time. At delivery, the truck couldnt fit down the street and he had to go get a smaller truck but other than that the move was great, Their customer service stayed in touch with me and my moving coordinator checked in on me from time to time to make sure everythin was ok. Everything made it in one, piece except for a scratch on the headboard to my bed, but it barely fit through the wall bringing it in the new house. At least i bought the extra insurance that was offered to me. Very ha[py with everything.

This company is the worst ever! Do not book with them! I repeat...do not! They broke two of my belongings that totaled to be over $130 and they want to only give me back $6!!!!!! Are you serious! This is so ridiculous! I am so outraged and upset. If I would have known how horrible their customer service is and their damaged claims recovery, I would not have booked with them. And I agree, if there was a no star option on this review, I would have given them nothing!
SGent 12/21/2009
I booked with World Moving as they were one of the lowest bidders on my move and the man I spoke to on the phone seemed very nice. I called the very next day to cancel my move to which they responded that I would not recieve my deposit back. They "gave" me other compensations which I didn't wish for anyway. On the day my items were to be picked up I had yet to hear from a driver so I called the man that set up my move and said that we were done. Finally, at this point he connected me with the only person actually authorized to deal with cancellations and inform me of whether or not I would get a refund of my money. I was blatantly lied to by two people in the company and when I complained to customer service they said there was nothing they would do about it. The only person that seemed like they actually cared was the woman that works the cancellations. THESE PEOPLE ARE A BROKER THAT FARMS YOUR JOB OUT TO SOMEBODY ELSE! Terrible service. The people I spoke to misrepresented themselves and misrepresented me and then refused to do anything to look into or rectify the situation. It would have been less stressful to just move my items myself.
smartym 12/20/2009
These guys are scum bags. No Ethics at all. They are brokers and talk sweet until they have your deposit. We booked them for moving from TX to CA and were assured about pickup date. No one called us even on the 2nd day. We tried reaching the customer service and were put on hold for hours or mysteriously disconnected.Carols -- that guy really needs to be kicked in his balls! I will personally do it.What they do is they lure the driver by saying the customer has 3000Lbs of household to move, and when the driver see's it as less he throws a fit and refuses a pick up. Its a game.Don't fall for this bastards. They have caller ID when you call them and they never take your call once they have your $$--James
WorstService 11/15/2009
I would have given 0 if that had been an option! This company is crap! They are a broker and the talk a good talk making you think you are getting a great deal and your stuff will be delivered exactly when you need it. The sales people are sleezey and get things moving along and want you to commit to their serivce right away. I was promised a pickup date of Wednesday and they did not arrive until Thursday afternoon. The movers were speaking some foreign language the entire time they were in the house which made me very nervous. Oh oh and they came in an out of state Penske truck, not exactly the most professional situation. I was assured that my delivery date of the 6th was not a problem but then as soon as they picked up my stuff I was called and told that the delivery would be at my destination on the 28th and I would have to pay for storage until the 6th. They were asking if I wanted to pay for storage and at that point you have no choice since they have your stuff! Then from that point on it is very difficult to get ahold of anyone to speak to you. So even after paying for storage for delivery on the 6th (Tuesday) I ended up having to wait until Saturday night for my my stuff to be delivered! Not the worse scenerio on this site but bad enough. Luckily I had time on Saturday evening/Sunday to get my stuff unpacked before I started work. I would never use this company again. I should have shipped it UPS!
thisisroot 11/02/2009
World Moving Services was supposed to pick up our belongings on Thursday morning. Wednesday, they called to say they'd be there Thursday afternoon. Thursday morning, they called to say that they would have to postpone until Friday morning at 7:00AM. They arrived Friday morning at 7:30. But, the dispatcher reassured me, they would deliver on Monday to make up for it.Monday came and went.So did Tuesday. And Wednesday.Thursday they called to say that our belongings wouldn't be delivered until the following Tuesday. Frustrated, I called to speak to my friendly account manager. He's my advocate, right? At least, that's what he told me when he said he'd call the driver and see about getting things pushed forward to the weekend.By Saturday evening, when I still hadn't heard anything, I accepted that this was just a dishonest ploy to get me off the phone. Now, Monday, they called to say that they can't make Tuesday. They can't give me a date yet, but the truck hasn't left and it's a two-day trip. I feel as if my belongings are being held hostage by a company that has a casual disregard for their agreements and the satisfaction of their customers. I will never, NEVER entrust my material possessions to World Moving Services again, and, as competitive as the moving market is right now, would encourage anyone reading this to do the same.
Ihateworldmovi ngservicesalso 10/09/2009
Can I put zero stars? This moving company is the worst!!! My sales rep painted a rosy picture as long as I would sign the contract. He stated that my moving price was an estimate. However, when the weight of my move came in less, the sales person was nowhere to be found and the "estimate" magically transformed into a firm number. I have spent endless hours dealing with these idiots and it's always a different person. Don't even think about using this company or be prepared for hours of hassle with people that are out to steal from you.
Schwiizer 10/06/2009
Run the other direction as fast as you can. I picked World Moving because their sales staff was really friendly and pro-active. As soon as I signed a deposit that all changed. Although E., my original representative, estimated a move for about $2500, I was transferred to anther representative who basically doubled the estimated weight, and therefore doubled the price. They tried to pick up two days earlier than when the were supposed to, only called one of our pick-up locations to let them know, and then yelled at my relative when she said the move could not take place early. This was about the time the customer service rep stopped returning my calls. Their subcontracted movers informed me that because I could not move earlier, it would cost me an extra $300 in fees. World Movers never responded to my complaint. My delivery date was moved twice, and moved past the date listed in my contract. No one bothered to inform me, so I only found out when I called the movers directly. Then he asked me how I was going to pay. Since no one ever told me my final amount, I didn't even know what the cost was. World Movers had no idea what it was. I called the van line directly and was told I needed a cashier's check for the balance. How was I supposed to know this? They would have shown up (eventually) and I would have had no money for them. This move was nothing short of a nightmare and ended up being way more expensive than it was supposed to be. The customer service rep out-and-out LIED to me to get me to sign the contract. Call a van line directly. You'll be glad you did.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!I read the reviews on this website after booking my move with WMS and still decided to go ahead with them which was a huge mistake. I won't go through the details of my terrible experience as you can read plenty of them on this site. I will however provide several FACTS about this company that you should know:-WMS is broker. Despite what they may tell you and how they try to word it (I was told they had a "sister company" that did the physical transportatoin for all moves, which was a LIE. WMS will simply take your load and give it to the CHEAPEST POSSIBLE MOVING COMPANY they can find.-WMS is a terrible broker. The only reason you would ever pay a broker instead of just going directly to the moving company is to take advantage of price discounts the broker can leverage or the superior customer service they proivide. WMS does neither...-WMS provides absolutely no customer service once they receive your money. The company is extremly attentive right up until they get your money, at that point, no one in the company will talk with you and you will be forced to deal with whatever carrier they chose for you directly.-WMS holds absolutely no responsibility for loss or damange incurred during a move. This is in the fine print, but you should be aware that no matter what happens on your move, WMS will not do anything about it.-Will Rippy is LIAR. If you are unfortunate enough to get Mr. Will Rippy as your contact, Hang up the Phone. Will blatantly lied to me repeatedly and on key issues such as "Your load will be moved with our sister moving company" = LIE (I got "Best Movers" who just put three guys in a rented Penske truck...) "Your load will definitely end up being less than the quote" = LIE "Your load will not be transloaded and will stay on the same truck the entire time" = ABSOLUTE LIE (this was the only reason I went with the company, and it was a blatant lie, my load was transloaded several times and severely damaged in the process" the biggest one: "I will be there for you the entire move to make sure everything goes allright" = LIE (once they have your money, he stops returning your calls.Basically my advise is to either:- Go with one of the big, well known moving companies. In the end they honestly won't be much more expensive and will guarantee you a smooth move.-If you want a smaller, cheaper carrier, then just book with them directly. You'll save money and you'd end up having to deal with them directly with WMS anyway.-If you want to go through a broker, pick one that will actually provide you with customer service, unlike WMS.The people at WMS are unethical and should be ashamed of themselves!

I had a great experience w/World Moving Services. I spoke at length w/Gerald. He was exceedingly polite and patient. He explained in great detail how their service worked and how it was priced. He was also clear as to what I should expect, and how to avoid nasty surprises. [like inaccurate weight estimates on my end.] I explained my situation. I had to make a move for my disabled brother with VERY short notice from CO to MA. Both he and his manager Peter bent over backwards to accomodate my situation. Once I had made a reservation and given the credit card # for the downpayment, I received very bad news. My brother had had a serious medical emergency and the move was off, at least for now. The team at World movers was considerate and gave me a full refund without any fuss. I enjoyed working with them. They were knowledgeable, articulate and set clear expectations.

Run and dont look back!!! If you have allready put down a deposit, cut your line and let them keep your deposit as you will be better off. I wish I would have. This company gave my wife the lowest quote and assured her that "a grad piano" could be added in terms of weight and space to our move without additional cost or consequence. The representative, Gerald, also assured her that the date and time that we needed the movers to be there that they would come and load our items. Our nightmare began the morning that, according to Gerald, the movers were to come. After the morning passed with no call or movers we called the moving company. We were quickly told that regardless of what we were assured by Gerald our contract is what mattered. Be advised to read every part of your lengthy contract, even the small print, and do not take forgranted that what you are assured will actually happen if it is not in the contract. The contract states that the movers can come anytime within a two day time period and deliver your items somewhere within something like a 16 day time period. The movers indicated that they would not be there until the next morning. The next morning came and no movers. About two hours after the time they were supposed to arrive we recieved a call indicating that their truck had broken down and that they were waiting to get a mechanic to come and fix it. It is important to mention that when they called the movers were in a neighboring state approximately a 2 hour drive from my residence. To their credit they called me after the mechanic arrived and told me that they would arrive at my residense within a two hour window. The window came and left and no movers...They finally showed up an hour and a half after this and cited traffic as the reason for the holdup. Throughout this experience I called the moving company who refused to extend any sympathy or help. When I asked if I could cancel the move or if they could find someone else to move my goods I was told no and reminded that any change would result to me loosing my hefty deposit. By the way in the middle of all of this a very confusing reality was explained to me. World moving will not be the actual company doing your move. They use sub contracting companies so if anything happens you are caught between the two companies and they often blame things on each other or deny that they have the power to help you as a result of the other company. Once they arrived the driver and crew preceeded to get out of their truck and look at what they were to load. After the driver saw my items he told me that I had far more items than what were on my estimate and that they would not fit in his truck. When I began to respond by telling him that we told Gerald everything that we had and he estimated the space and weight, an argument ensued between us. The mover insisted that he could not fit my items in his truck (which was 3/4 loaded with someone elses goods) and indicated that he did not have to move me and drove off from my residence. As my back was turned (My five friends who witnessed this whole ordeal informed me) that the mover turned around and directed an aggressive "F*@# You" to me accompanied by an offensive non-verbal gesture. Shortly after this event I contacted the moving company, informed them of what took place and they contacted the subcontracting company who then called me. The subcontracting company indicated that the driver was tired, hungry and sorry for his behavior. In addition they told me that he could fit my items into his truck and that he was coming back to load me. At this point I voiced strong reservations about this person moving me especially with everything that had transpired. I was told by World Moving that if I did not allow them to load my stuff, I would breech my contract and loose my deposit. Looking back, this would have been my best option.I allowed the movers to load my stuff as the driver apologized and assured me that he would take good care of my stuff. In addition I did not want to loose my deposit. Around the time about half of my items were loaded the next drama unfolded as one of the movers called the police on the other movers indicating that they where threatening to not pay him and beat him up later that night. The police then came to my residence and the mover who called the police left with the police to go home. The remaining movers continued to load my items and at almost 10 pm they told me that they were not going to be able to fit all of my items in their truck. The movers assured me that they would come back and get my items on the next move in the area and then where off with everything I owned. The next day I received a call from the moving company who informed me that I was over weight and there was going to be an additional $1100 fee on top of the estimate. When I protested I was informed that according to the contract my stuff would not be delivered until I paid them in full. I talked on the phone with their customer service department, supervisors and my estimator in sum for over five hours that day. The company would take no responsibility for the bad estimate or any of their verbal commitments. I was told that I may be able to receive some compensation for my inconvieniences but that could not be determined until after the move. The situation that you are in is basically pay what they tell you or you will not get your stuff. The nightmare is almost over. Be advised that the movers demand to be paid BEFORE they unload your stuff and know that you must pay them in cash or post office money order. Both methods allow them to leave with no responsibility or chance of future protest as would be possible with a credit card or other payment methods. A couple hours before the movers arrived at my residence I recieved a phone call from the company that informed me that I was being charged an additional $180 because of the number of steps to my door. Once the movers arrived they had two guys they had picked up along the way who unloaded most of my stuff. They paid these individuals a couple hundred dollars in cash for their work. The positive is that nothing was broken by the movers.I was later told by the moving company that because I was overweight they had no responsibility to move the rest of my items that were over 1300 miles away. Despite the fact that these items could have fit in the back of a pick up truck the company told me that I had to set up a minimum move which would run me aroud $1000 to have the rest of my stuff brought to me (many items were listed on my moving list that were left). The truck driver offered me a deal to do it on the side but at this point I was not going for that. I ended up borrowing a pickup truck and driving the 2600 miles round trip myself. In terms of the compensation for the complaint, I received a call indicating that because of what had happened the company felt that I was entitled to a $60 refund. So my move ended up costing almost double the estimate with all of the above mentioned issues. Oh yeah and the truck was a Penske rental. Please do yourself a favor and run far away from this company and go with someone else.

Worst experience ever. They give you a quick pitch and a low price and keep none of their promises. A week before the move they will call you and do a price increase. I would never ever use them. Be very skeptical. They do not use their own trucks, they are just a broker to other companies and the company the scheduled our move with was not even accredited with the BBB.Nightmare!!

Thank you all for warning me about world moving. I was able to avoid the nightmare that you faced. I called them and was surprised to get a very quick estimate that came in at less than half of what reputable companies that I knew well were going to charge. The salesman gave me a pitch saying that booking with them is like booking with an airline. Book NOW or the price will go up! I was suspicious that he wanted my credit card number so quickly and he didn't even ask very many questions that I thought were important (like the worth of my stuff, how many bedrooms I would be moving from and in to, etc.) He didn't even ask if I was in an apartment or a house!! I thought...this must be a scam and quickly hung up. I found this website and was relieved that I had avoided the problems that everybody else has been facing.THANK YOU!!

World Movers Thieves. These people wittingly rooked me by charging 3x the estimated price of the move. (The original estimate, done by their own professional estimator was supposedly the weight of each item x 2, so that I'd get a refund on the other end of the move. They doubled the doubled weight.) On the day of the pick-up, the driver asked me if I wanted to buy insurance, and I said YES and asked about the rates, and he replied, "I dunno." So I had no insurance. They hired a single trucker, not a mover, who asked me IF I COULD HELP HIM OFFLOAD. When the truck pulled up, it was a regular, unmarked truck with a CARDBOARD SIGN with the words "World Moving attached to the doors of the truck.I'm a 60 year old woman who paid DEARLY for that part of the service. I ended up hiring 3 extra men to do that ($$). They gave me 5 different delivery dates, required me to drive to New Hampshire (from Boston) to witness the weighing of the truck. Never told of this before. They opened all my boxes and threw the contents into other boxes so couldn't locate anything. They damaged furniture and box contents. When I called the slimey salesman who made the deal with me, he just repeatedly said, "WHAT!!??" about my complaints and transferred my call to another department. They are rip-off artists who hire other trucking companies to do the actual move (the cheaper the better? and they take no responsibility for the move!) Allstar Transfer of Edmonds, WA was the hired movers who screwed me equally. Worldwide Moving Services took no responsibility.
