You guys will think it's weird - but Im actually an independant who often votes Democrat. However, I have always been drawn to Pat. I thinnk he is extremely smart, and I love his views on immegration (where I cant STAND DEMs views on it). If he ran again, I think Id put aside a lot of my social and personal beliefs to get this man in office. He is a Great American who tells it like it is. He makes me proud to live here, and proud to cross party lines. I intend on purchasing his books as I have heard they are great reads.

buchanan is the only Paleoconservative that people know and i support all the stuff that he stands for. he is for small government and isolationism which would help make our country better plus he is a supporter of more power to the states. his stance on morral issues is also very good and i think that if everyone in this country voted for parties that supported the paleoconservative beliefs like his then this would be a much better country.

Solenoid's comments made me chuckle as believe it or not Pat Buchanan was the first editorial writer I began reading frequently when I was in college. Pat is a brilliant man and two of his books A Republic Not and Empire and Death of The West are both must reads. I would also agree with jgls that his recent antics and comments on certain issues seem quite bizarre at times and coming from such an intelligent person leave you picking for esoterics that aren't pretty. He beat white birth rates over the head in Death of the West for what reason? The West is a civilization born of a distinct culture not skin color correct? And his Reform Party run was just pathetic- ditto there. In the end however he brings much to the table in our perpetual discussion regarding the future of our country.

pat's passion is his greatest asset, but sometimes he expresses outrageous views on issues that seem to be a little bizzare.

In my opinion this man's a genius. I see eye to eye with him on more issues, and on more aspects of those issues, than with anyone else I know of. And his cunning and captivating writing style can't be ignored. His recent book The Death of the West is by far one of the most masterful pieces of literature to be published in a long time. Every red-blooded American should read it. In fact, if there ever comes a day when I teach a college class, as doubtful as it may be, this book would be required reading. He's one of the most uncompromising hard-set conservatives in the country today; something we need a lot more of. And even though I love and admire George W. and think he's doing an excellent job running this country, I know that the job couldn't be in better hands than with Pat Buchanan. To put it bluntly, he simply has the balls to do what needs doing.

Pat Buchanan is the reason I began reading newspaper editorials. During the Panama Canal controversy (late 1970s), I heard that he had written a series of good articles on the subject, to be published in the Daily Oklahoman. I was amazed at his writing ability - he could make words march in cadence. I never saw a writer who could be so clear, incisive, and sometimes hilarious. After that, I started reading anything I could find that he wrote, and he was my favorite writer for the next decade. However, I feel that he has slipped a little and become less colorful in his writing - and I've been disappointed in some of his views in recent years. His run for the Presidency on the Reform ticket was embarassing. Still, I admire very much his strong adherence to what he believes in. You always know where he stands and you don't have to worry that he's going to try to please everyone. He's also been nice enough to answer letters I've written him - twice. If he's not my favorite writer ... Read more

He left true conservatism with his NAFTA stance. Still, as one of Nixon's speechwriters, a very intelligent and articulate commentator. They love him on Hardball (for conservatives) Also known as Soft/softball for liberals, especially old liberals.
