History shows that wherever Mohammed's followers get the upper hand, they impose their religion. At first they were the religion of the conquerors but always changed that to the conquering religion.



Millions have been slaughtered or forced to convert to Islam. That is happening in the Sudan and Indonesia today.

While I do feel that the culture that sprang from this faith deserves credit for preserving various bits of extremely important knowledge, the crack pots that popped up along the way as the religion moved through time leave a lot to be desired. No, I do not feel that this applies to everyone in this faith. And yes, I think all religions produce crack pots (shout out to Jim Jones and David Koresh). However, when I consider certain things about Islam, I find myself at odds with the popular notion that they are quite the “religion of peace” their PR would claim. As I said, many Muslims most likely are living peaceful lives. But this loses a certain amount of significance and hardly changes what happened eight years ago, the events that followed or pretty much the SOS that has been raging in one way or another for centuries. After all, this is a religion that actually obliges its members through their written word to (at the very least) hate and/or (at worst) kill anyone who isn’t buying the same ideas they did. That spooky edict coupled with things like ownership/repression of women and this bizarre idea that their woes can be solved by continually blowing up everything in sight (including each other) leads me to question the over all sincerity of the peace issue as well as the value of this dogma.

(note: I am in no way suggesting that we cannot live in peace with Muslim Americans. I believe that we can and do. But if and when we do it is because both sides are willing. That’s what we need to keep in mind.)

Lets define our terms here, it's certainly helpful to Islamic society. Who's the arbitrator, Pat Robertson?

Muslims gave us algebra, pi, alcohol (ironic, I know), tahonas for mills, acena for water-wheel and acequia for an irrigation canals. They gave us chemistry, the astrolabe, and contributions to medicine.
Al-Sufi, first marked the Andromeda Galaxy and charted the heavens at the observatory under the Sultan Sharaf-ud-Dawla.

So if you are a math or science nerd, thank a Muslam

Saying Islam is a religion of Peace would be Misleading, so would saying it is a religion of War.
In fact, Islam is a religion that believes that there is no God but God, and that Mohammed was his prophet. It believes that Moses, Abraham, Isaiah, Paul, John, Peter and Jesus were all prophets of God. It is as diverse and complex as all the major religions. To judge it on RIA is just silly, but then i find myself doing just that.

Nothing against the people, but their god is not my God.  There is only one way, and that's Jesus Christ.

NOTHING BAD HAS EVER HAPPENED AS A CONSEQUENCE OF ISLAM! BLASPHEMERS WILL BURN IN MY FRYING PAN!

It is so easy to blur the line between good and bad muslims.  They are all brain washed.

I hate islam and I dislike most muslims.

Genghis has this one right. Islam is as much a front for totalitarian fascism in the name of religion as it is a "religion". The crusades were a result of the Muslim invasion of Jerusalem. In WW2, Muslims overwhelmingly supported Adolf Hitler (the Waffen SS had an entire unit of Muslims). In the name of Jihad, they have attacked people of every religion on every continent. Check how many wars and "conflicts" are going on around the world today, then check how many of them invlovle Islamic Jihad.

A highly unpopular view, more than likely, but the need exists to tell apart 'Islam' from radical deviants of that Faith who label themselves as such. Here's what contributors to Wikipedia tell us:

I have no hatred toward Muslims. However, I do have hatred toward the Islam religion. It denies that Jesus Christ is the savior. At least I know that I won't ever leave God and I'll never marry into another religion.

Not all Muslims are evil. Not all of them are good. Believers of this religion range from peaceful to bloodthirsty, just like any group.

Grr. I still know that "good muslims" danced in the streets on 9-11.
