    Gateway started out as an excellent manufacturer but when their volume skyrocketed, they basically started outsourcing the vast majority of their work to Asus and others. Quality control has taken a huge downturn and customer service is virtually non-existent. When you finally reach a customer service representative he/she will speak with such a thick Indian accent that their peers can't understand them. It's obvious that they're reading straight from a trouble-shooting checklist and have ZERO technical knowledge personally. 9 out of 10 times the checklist will lead to suggesting Gateway's PAID support in the United States at $129 for 90 minutes! My hard drive failed in the Gateway I have currently; the warranty is for 1 year for everything EXCEPT the hard drive which warrantied for 3 years. When I called Gateway I was instructed to file a RMA with Western Digital, whom made the hard drive. When I called Western Digital they agreed that the hard drive was warrantied for 3 years...     terrible job on there laptops, out of 4 laptops i have seen of gateway 3 of the 4 cd drives break and the shut of because they over heat all the time.

    Gateway is the absolute worst computer brand ever!!!!!!!!!!!! The compter I use specifically is a Gateway. My computer has been broken for a while now and now the whole family has to use one computer, abd it sucks!!! It can't do anything!!! 1. Videos don't work well. They randomly pause like every 2 seconds without you doing anything, and then it take about 30 seconds to get going again. Then it does it about 5 times during each video. 2. This computer can't run any PC games. Everytime you put in a game about 5 minutes into the game the computer will make a loud staticy noise and then everything will freeze and you have to turn off the computer from the CPU, and then that take forever. 3. This computer is extremely slow. it won't run online or offline fast at all! 4. It won't respond to mouse clicks very well.     My 10 year old Gateway finally bit the big one and I just bought a new one. Three or four years ago they were junk, they came around and are again putting quality components in their Gateway branded machines.

    Used to swear by their product then moved away when they had their downturn. Haven't been back.

    Builds quality computers with modern designs, also very accepting of AMD which is a plus for me as this brings a more well rounded selection of value and power PC's. Took a serious downgrade two years ago but slowly climbing back.
