 | Limpin' Trenchfoot (18) 07/27/2006 | I was last there in 2003 but I've heard that German hotel companies have pretty much bought huge chunks of the Black Sea coast at knock down prices. Shame. It's got a lot of potential as the scenery is generally v beautiful but crime, the burgeoning trend among rich foreigners buying up property, villages and towns even plus tourist overdevelopment could do big damage. Also, something needs to be done about the badly decaying apartment blocks that scar many of the towns and cities.

 | BOGO™ (0) 05/06/2003 | Bulgaria is a fairly peaceful country with beautiful nature. If you find a way to make a lot of money here, you can even forget that our government is dumb and stupid. Bulgarians are friendly people, but "llef1000du" is right that not so many people speak English (and Bulgarian is hard). However, if you visit the capital, you can surely make your way around.

 | llef1000du (0) 11/08/1999 | Right now, the Eastern Block countries are "the" place I'd like to visit- Bulgaria was GORGEOUS, w/its acres of sunflowers & roses, & the people are wonderful. The only reason I didn't rank it higher was because the infrastructure is definitely degrading & English is not too commonly spoken.
