The Templo Mayor was a double pyramid that was dedicated to the gods Tlaloc and Huitzilopochtli. It was the clearest symbol of the vast Aztec urban infrastructure, as well as a representation of the cosmic center of the universe. The site was unearthed accidentely in 1978 by telephone repairmen, and has since been transformed into an archeological wonder.
