Great summer job experience when I was younger. Don't really care if you people like it or hate it. Our customers were happy and I was happy to serve them the food and beverages they ordered. I think you negative people are all very rude and disgruntle and take out your food snobbery on students trying to make it through school, forced to produce food outlined by a cheap owner etc, but it's easier to blame those trying their best to help and work hard, as you don't have to feel so small and inferior that you didn't have the 1million to buy your own franchise, it's all about kicking the little man/woman worker, so you feel better about yourself and your gas guzzling 4X4 that you can no longer afford. Starsucks is nasty, chai latte is disgusting and for $9.00 forget it! I'll take Timmies anyday, I don't care where they originated, who they belong to, what their corporate figure head is...who cares, I just want a drink and something to get me through those 12 hrs shifts! And French Vanil... Read more

Their doughnuts are ok and once in a while I may have a coffee. A while back my wife wanted a sandwich for lunch and we went to the Tim's drive thru. The clerk ask if she wanted her sandwich on a white or wheat roll and when I said wheat the clerk immediately said they were out of wheat. Nothing like giving you an unavailable choice and I was in the mood to tell them I'd park by the window and wait. After getting her sandwich my wife wished we went somewhere else. The sandwich was poorly made and had no flavor at all.

-PERSPECTIVE FROM A TIM HORTONS EMPLOYEE- As a current student Tim Hortons employee, i would not target anything at the store. But i do have to say that all fast food is terrible for you, i mean terrrible!!! Chicken is processed and beef is processed and made from 1000 different cows in that one burger. You customers do not know how much my Tim Hortons store puts great effort into satisfying our all of the people that walk or drive through our store. At my location our rule is to serve our customer first no matter what. We are always polite and respectful of all costumers, and we are often recognized for our great teamwork. You should not target tim hortons because of that single bad experience you had, some of us actually try our best and work our butts of to make all you people happy. At my location we have a 20 minute coffee pot rule where you are not allowed to serve that coffee pot to any costumers if it is passed the expiry date. If you ever go through drive through or counter ma... Read more

The coffee(?) is weak, watered down swill. Of course I drink my coffee black and without added sugar. I can only surmise that all the persons who load their Tim's coffee with sugar and milk are doing so to try to impart some body and flavor into their drink. The 3 times in my lifetime that I have had a Tim's coffee, I found it so hot I had to wait for about ten Minutes for it to cool enough that I could drink it without scalding my lips and tongue. My guess is that the coffee has to be made this hot to allow the customers who dump 2 or 3 or more teaspoons of sugar, plus an ounce or 2 of milk or cream into their coffee to have a drink that still has some heat left. If I purchase coffee brewed commercially, as opposed to drinking a home brewed cup, Tim's is definitely my last choice.

I used to be a tim hortons customer. I got so sick and tired of their attitude. (for here or to go) that's all they ever say. I now go to McDonalds. They are polite, the coffee is cheaper for seniors, and you get a free refill. The newspaper is new daily and there are lots to go around. 3 stars I would like to say that I went to a Tim Hortons in Ottawa located at Conroy & Walkley Rd the other day and when I went to give these good hard workers a tip the person who served me said not to tip him because they don't get to keep their tips that any tips goes to the owner. What is up with that? I was very surprised and somewhat disgusted because these poor hard working students/adults work hard to serve the customers and try and make a living as well. I mentioned it to a friend of mine and he went to the same Tim Hortons located on Conroy and Walkley Rd in Ottawa and decided to do the same thing to see if he would get the same response and sure enough the girl gave him back his tip and told him thanks but she was not allowed to keep the tips that it goes to the owner..............very disgusting. I went to a different Tim Hortons in the same week and I always tip if the service is good and I asked the girl that served me if she accepts tips and she said yes and I proc... Read more

Tim Hortons is a chain of franchises and each location varies quite drastically in service and quality. In general, the coffee is weak, service is slow, food is unhealthy (especially the breakfast buns). Starbucks has far superior coffee. T.H. donuts are dough-like and lack flavor but many people are hooked on the sugar and fat content. Don Mills/Lawrence is one of the worst locations, especially for service. It took 20 minutes to order 6 donuts and 2 coffees -- and I was the first one in line! I had not visited for about a year and, after the lousy service and terrible food, I will never return. I have heard there is a long waiting list to purchase a Tim Hortons franchise location and with a cost of $1 million. If that's the case, surely the owners could afford to hire competent employees and clean the washrooms.

Upstate NY Tims are vastly different from the downstate Tims. I'm not sure if the upstate Tims are franchised, or at least in the same manner as the ones in Manhattan. Up in Buffalo, all of them are consistent. The coffee is good. The iced cappuccinos are great. The sandwiches are consistently good. Morning bagels are great (for Western NY....and only when toasted). Workers are mostly students. Everything's pretty economical. In Manhattan, all the chains seem to be more expensive. For instance, a Large Ice Capp (people up-north love to shorten everything) is $3.79 in Manhattan vs. $2.99 inside any upstate chain, including ones inside UB North Campus. Sandwiches are about a $1 premium in NYC, and combos aren't much of a discount. The big difference is quality, though. Someone mentioned that many Dunkins are being replaced by Tim Hortons, which explains a lot. See, most Dunkin Donuts serve just 3 things: Donuts, bagels, and coffee. Only a few venture into the new paninis and stuff. Ti... Read more

Sorry to hear that Tim Hortons has let down our American Friends. However, it may be different in the States, as sometimes is the case concerning companies that operate internationally. Similar differences can be found between Canadian and American versions of Big Red Gum (much hotter and yummier in the States) and Oreo Cookies (in Canada, the cookie has a much denser texture and heavier cocoa flavour, and the cream is thicker and smoother). Never mind the difference of Cadbury between England and Canada...we EASILY get the short end of the stick on this one! Back to Timmy's: Here in Canada, they have always used fresh, healthy ingredients, and they have very strict policies for the product. The donuts, buns, bagels (etc) are baked daily, in the store, unless it is a small kiosk location, in which the items are brought in from a larger nearby store. The coffee is always fresh, and is dumped 20 minutes. I have only ever found them to be out of bagels, on the odd occasion. How do I k... Read more

BRUTAL I have had the misfortune of having all of the Dunkin Donuts in the area of NYC that I work in replaced with Tim Horton's. The geniuses at Reese Restaurants didn’t want to pay the franchise fee to DD so they decided to replace them with Tim Hortons. There are three Timmy’s located in Penn Station and I have watched these once bustling locations get passed over by literally thousands of people. I once watched a store not sell a single item in a 15 minute span during AM rush hour. That might not seem like a lot of time to many of you but in one of the most heavily traveled corners of the world, it is an eternity. I hardly ever see anyone on line at any of the locations and the donuts NEVER seem to move. There were many times where certain donuts would sell out at DD’s and there was ALWAYS a line of three to four people during the AM rush. I sampled the coffee and donuts and they are both barely tolerable. By that I mean, I won’t spit them out. I hope somebody at Rees... Read more

Tim Horton's is the worst coffee in the world. The service varies by location, from the absurdly pathetic and rude, in St. Stephen and St. Andrews New Brunswick Canada, to the polite in Portland Maine. The product is acceptable, albeit expensive for the serving size. If anything else is available to you, drive by, not thru these shops.

Let's have a complete review about Tim Hortons' products. First of All, Coffee, hmm, the coffee they are famous for... Their coffee is totally shit water. There's no aroma at all. Drinking a black tim hortons coffee is suiciding. Trust me, McDonald's have better coffee than tim hortons. Plus, the coffees are usually kept for more than 20 minutes if they are not sold. Products-Coffee, Decaf Brewed Coffee, Steeped Tea Oh yea? Let's try some donuts... Products-All the donuts, bake goods, Pastries Donuts are all pre-prepared at the manufacturing plants. They are shipped to local tim hortons store frozen and heated up in a oven at the store to make an impression that the donuts are made in-store. They do the final touches such as putting in the fillings, glaze them...etc in store. This applies to all the other bake goods as well. Is that what you called fresh? Chicken patties, strips... Products-Chicken Club, Chicken Salad, Chicken Wraps Just like most of the fast food chicken, they coll... Read more

Tim Horton's sucks giant donkey turds. The coffee is shit juice. I used to drink it and make fun of yuppies who drank Starbucks until a co-worker brought me a bold Starbucks coffee and being someone who likes my coffee black, I was amazed at the difference in taste and quality. I switched and never looked back. The food is the worst part of Tim's (I never liked the food). The sandwhiches are all craptastic, dry and not fresh. The soups are watery and tasteless unless they're creamy in which case they still taste like shit and also feel like it. The chili will give you heartburn like an asshole. The donuts are donuts, they don't make you cream your pants or anything but are probably the best thing Tim's have to offer. The service blows goats and most of the employees are half-retarded (not that it'd be an ideal place to work, ugggh). The customers who love Tim's are fucking annoying as shit with their stupid refillable mugs and small talk it makes me want to vomit. Tim's is a... Read more

Tim Horton's coffee is awesome! I am only able to indulge on the weekends, so I savor it. Reading the comments by the "One Star" group only convinces me that it’s time to just let it go. I worked many years in fast food service and it is what it is. You make some money and move on, go to college, get a better job . . . but just let it go. Not enough can be said about the customer service that I receive from our area Tim Horton’s. Everyone is friendly and practices great customer service. (Incidentally, most of them are also working their way through college.)

They really should have a disclaimer that this should be for reviewing the restaurant - not for every disgruntled employee to come on here and vent. Review: Timmies is like any other fast food chain. I would certainly put them head and shoulders over McDonald's and the like. As for their coffee - I'd put it on par with Dunkin's. Their donuts are far better than Krispy's. Sandwiches and soups are ok - remember, this is fast food. For the disgruntled employees - sorry folks, this is cheap, unskilled labour (as is the management) - the franchises can afford good management, so it's hit and miss (same with the labour). If you want first class service and food, then you shouldn't be going to a fast food chain.

Tim Hortons has arrived in New York and, having heard great reviews from some of my Canadian friends, I couldn't wait to try it. Well, I don't see what the fuss is all about. I've never had worse fast food. The only thing that was okay was the breakfast sandwich; everything else that I tried - grilled chicken sandwich, apple pastry, vegetable soup - were awful! I threw the soup away after one spoonful. The sandwich was poor quality and tasteless. The pastry was mediocre at best. I haven't tried the coffee - I confess to be a coffee snob and, after my experience with the rest of their menu, I was afraid to take a chance on the coffee. And the service was terrible!! The order taking/food delivery system is so inefficient and disorganized that it's just by chance that anyone winds up with the right order. People are tripping over each other behind the counter while customers are milling around in front of the counter. I'm amazed they've stayed in business as long as they have. ... Read more

5 Reasons Tim Hortons Sucks For those of you unaware, Tim Hortons is an international1 coffee & donut shop co-founded by Tim Horton, a Canadian Hockey player (who died when he lost control of his 1974 Pantera at 100mph, while under the influence of alcohol and pain killers). By feeding off it’s inherently Canadian origins, combined with massive expansion, clever marketing and sponsorships Tim Hortons has managed to inject itself as key part of Canadiana – up there with Hockey Night In Canada, curling, cheap beer and The CBC. Tim Hortons has done such an excellent job marketing their “Canadian-ness,” that many Canadians literally feel that it’s their patriotic duty to patronize the restaurant. I am not one of those Canadians. Tim Hortons sucks! 1. Tim Hortons coffee is terrible! A lot of Canadians hold Tim Hortons coffee in high esteem, “it’s great, like Canadian beer”. Most Canadians are probably only familiar with the “double-double” (2 shots of cream and 2 sugars). But really, alm... Read more

I've worked at many places as a teenager(currently 19). I have to say it is the worst place that I've ever worked at. I mean I used to work at a gas station, and got robbed, and that was more pleasant than working at Gay Horton's. I currently work night shifts on weekends, because I go to college. During the entire shift it is only me and one other employee. The owners of the store make me bake, clean most of the store, and serve customers (even sometimes clean the ceiling and sanitize the lights). The owners own the store because the "husband and wife team from hell" have a rich family member who bought them the store. They know nothing of management and their business shows it. They also constantly write me up or have a complaint on me that I'm lazy or didnt do my job right. I fuckin bust my ass off every shift, and believe me the money aint worth it. The customers ........ ooooo ...... the customers............ I have drunk customers, stoned customers, rude customers, fat customer... Read more

I currently work for tim hortons and I would also advise NO ONE to work there. The managers treat you like garbage, they think theyre drill sargents.... Ive worked for 3 different tim hortons and theyre all the same. The owners, managers and supervisors couldnt care less about their employees...We work our asses off, and for what? Minimum wage and to be told that were not "doing enough" or "working hard enough". The customers are a totally different story... Im not sure which is worse, the customers or management? MAYBE WE GET YOUR ORDER WRONG BECAUSE YOU SAY YOUR ORDER WRONG....Or you mumble it under your breathe...Or change your mind 100 times...Its NOT always our fault, yet we have to be "polite" and re-make it and apoligize right? Our job is so not worth it, and If I could work anywhere else I WOULD. But unfortuneately I cant at the moment. Im not the only one that feels this way, half the staff I work with are ready to walk out..... DO NOT WORK FOR TIM HORTONS.

Coffee is equivelent to price.( Cheap ) Soups are bad. From the taste of the soup I believe they are dehydrated just add water recipes. Cheese singles on a breakfast bagel? Yuk! It's amazing that Tim Hortons doesn't get the publicity abuse that Mcdonalds does. No matter how hungry I am those breakfast things on the biscuit buns taste BAD. Chili is OK.

The brand has achieved iconic status in Canada leveraging its roots in two great national passions, hockey and doughnuts.  The food court at the mall close to my office hosts both a Tim's and a Starbucks.  The Starbucks usually has two or three peole in line getting gouged for coffee with faux ero-monikers dished out by pretentious hipster serving staff.  The Tim's, not a word of a lie, is typically lined up out the door with a couple of dozen customers getting their brew and maple-dipped doughnut from pimply kids in cheap golf shirts and gooffy hats for about half the price.  The funny thing, to me any way, is that the coffee from both places tastes EXACTLY the same.

What they got in return is just a .50 above minimum wage. DAMM cheap Chin owner did not give a free meals or at least 50% off for the employees. To work - few mimutes arrived early they smile and said nothing but 1 minute late they were bitchy about it. I used to work there and never get any discount at all even a 10 or 20 timbits. Wow. As I'm reading through these posts, all I can think is "is this a review about my favorite Canadian coffee chain, or a teen angst blog-a-thon?" I'd say 50 - 60% of these 1-star posts belong to hard done by employees. Seriously, after reading your posts I can't help but think what outstanding employees you must have been. That can-do attitude really speaks volumes. I'd hire you in a minute. Riiiiiiight... This coffee house is a Canadian icon. Not overproduced with extensive gift shops and Italian espresso machines producing $5 lattes, but a hold on to our roots staple which has managed to successfully assimilate itself across an entire country and infiltrate another. Awesome coffee with mild complexity brewed in a BUNN. Love it! Employees may find differences from manager to manager, but who doesn't! My problem with Timmy's is that they put so much focus on being speedy at the drive through, and so nothing else matters. I never go through drive through, and so if you walk in, you won't be acknowledged. I once went in when about 6 employees were working. They were all working around the drive through, while I was standing there at the cash for at least ten minutes! If you go through drive through, you'll get speedy service, but you have little chance of actually getting what you ordered, or getting the right change. If you go inside, you'll get what you ordered (maybe) but it'll take forever. Since it seems to take a team of them just to pour one cup of coffee, there are miscommunications everywhere. Don't get me wrong - I go all the time for coffee and doughnuts, but I just need to walk in with a lot of patience!

I have worked at a Tim Hortons in the U.S. for 3 years. I would not recommend anyone to eat there or work there. The only reason I still work there is for the good schedule hours. In the U.S. stores we basically eat whatever we want for free. As for staffing, we turn over almost the entire staff every few months, because no one wants to work there. We our too busy and understaffed to bring good customer service. People should really start getting off their fat asses and make food themselves instead of eating crap. Tim Horton was a drunk brimming full with prescription meds who drove his car off a cliff and got a company named after him. Atleast that gives people hope that something can be named after them. Rant Over.

Briefly working at a store in Vancouver, BC was not enjoyable. Was working my ass off, had too if you wanted to look busy or else you'll be warned! If you're in high school & it's your 1st job, maybe. Evening shift is soo much better than morning/noon shift. Food is definitly not healthy at all! Soups/chillis are horrendously salty. You can get free donuts & cookies on your paltry breaks but those snacks costs measly. What I don't get is this.... when a mistake order is made, you can't sell it for food safety, then it gets thrown out. So if it's sitting out a for awhile then why should employees pay 1/2 price for it? Pathetic. Work at some pizza place at least you won't get hasseled for eating mistakes for free!

I would like to add, there is no dishonour with working at Tim's or any other job. My point is do not try and make it your career choice. It is a good job if you need a few bucks as an extra income to supplemnt your spouse's income or you need some coin to buy DVD's or games as your parents think you should be buying that junk for yourself. All good ideas, but do not ever think that these organizations will offer you any sort of future. Take your pay cheque save and go to school. Take a trade,,,power Engineering is a two year program and you can start right out of school making $22 an hour. I did. Two years later I am over $40. an hour. No shit. I swear it's true. You can work in Nuclear which is growing because Ontario needs more power, or go out west as Alberta is building 2 Nuclear plants.
