a little pricey!

Just wanted to congratulate Uno Chicago Grill that is located in the Bronx at the Metropolitan Oval who has the friendliest staff. This is important to me especially when I am sitting down to eat with my family. The service can be slow at times, but overall I am satisfied, as I see that they aim to please their customers. I've been living in the Bronx now for 4 years and I enjoy whenever I get a chance to treat my family to delicious food and a comfortable atmosphere. Thank you UNO and to your friendly staff.

It's good pizza, but it's overrated and overpriced.
Doctor of Madn ess 08/22/2008
The Chicago-style deep dish pizza is delicious and beyond that, this isn't a bad restaurant.
Strijdom 07/20/2008
Expensive, but this is the original deep dish pizza. And time tells. Definitely the most delicious, filling, real pizza anywhere. It was certainly the best pizza I ever had, despite the wait.

never had it

For some reason I remember this place being a lot better when the focus was on Chicago style deep dish pizza. Now I look at their menu and it seems like I'm at TGI Friday's or even Applebees. I probably won't be back.

The pizza tasted good, but it was very small and expensive. There is no reason a pizzeria can't have a larger variety of sizes (and cheaper prices). It also took about 45 minutes to get the pizza. I will probably never go there again because it is not worth the price.
smoothmoose 03/25/2007
Uno is the original, but the Giordano's is better. Either way, don't miss the wonderful italian food in Chicago.

I love the crust! It is like biting into a buttery biscuit! I like the fact that they use chunky tomato sauce. It's not like a regular pizza, I think what makes it different is the dough, the sauce and the preparation. I would definitely suggest it. They also put the cheese first then the sauce....which is different.
phx411 10/21/2006
The crust is decent but the topings are bland and devoid of taste and for the price you pay. it is not worth it.
jimorama 06/09/2006
Pizza with a knife and fork is wrong....
MattShizzle 05/21/2006
Their other food is good, but since this is for rating pizza chains I'm going by the pizza. And having slices of tomato (and they won't omit it) on a pizza is an abomination.
JackaToa 05/12/2006
Their pasta dishes are excellent, can't stand the pizza
sfalconer 02/13/2006
I am not sure if this is on the right list because it is much more than Pizza. It has a pretty good menu with pizza being the specialty. Most Pizza chains I know don't offer other Italian food, beef, chicken and Sea Food. The food was good but I was not feeling well so that might be the reason why I only gave it four stars.
INOitALL 10/29/2005
Its OK. Chicago style is just not my thing.
stellarwells 09/29/2005
I love Uno's. I go there all the time when I'm home from college. Their four-cheese pizza is the absolute best, and the Greek salad is great as well. The service is usually pretty good, and the curbside service is cool too.
charlesgso 05/08/2005
Pizza is too thick.
jah 03/19/2005
We were at Uno's today for the first time and our pizza was cold. Felt like it was a frozen pizza poorly reheated. Waiter insisted they checked temp and it was 200 degrees but it wasn't this pizza they checked. Will not return and will advise others to not go.
Golden Bear 02/20/2005
It's worth trying if it's your only option for Chicago-style deep-dish pizza (the only proper kind) Lots of combinations and good ingredients. The chain must be struggling a bit, at least out west - they pulled out of both SF and LA.
bbutler76 02/09/2005
Pizza crust tastes like bisquick. Cheese is excellent and the toppings are good as well. Have had it a few times and I don't plan on having it ever again. Have heard good things about the other food at Uno's though so who knows.
JoeSchmostix 01/30/2005
Uno's Pizza is the best pizza I have ever had... I disagree with the comment about the kids, if you want a place with no kids go to a higher dollar restaurant. This place is a great value with a great taste!! Everyone that I have taken there has absolutely loved it.
frogger20190 10/28/2004
Uno's food is terrific, but too many kids. They are trying to please the 20s and 30s crowd like TGIFridays, with their bar environment, but again--do you want to see so many kids running around in a bar?
TaxNSpend 07/28/2004
I went to the original Uno in downtown Chicago. The toppings, cheese and sauce were really good. However, the crust is a lot like bisquick. The service has much to be desired, though. Also, you have to wait about a half hour to be seated and another 15-30 minutes for your pizza. It is worth the wait, though!

It's the only Pizza Chain that has something good to offer. Though I like thin New York Style Pizza, the Chicago Classic at UNOs is a nice change of pace. The crust has a delicious flavor to it and the toppings are of good quality. They have pretty good buffalo wings too. Unfortunately, some of their other pizzas (like their thin crust) are hit and miss, says my wife. Service at our local restaurant has been marginal.
chrisk1177 03/17/2004
Ok food. Ok atmosphere. A little expensive.
ClassicTVFan47 03/15/2004
Another overrated sit-down chain. Boring internal designs, terribly small and bad-tasting pizzas, bad service, alcohol served, and high prices.
rsorc80 03/14/2004
i once enjoyed the restaurant in the orlando area, but once i moved to long island new york and had a horrific dining experience, i will NOT be returning to any pizzeria uno. The restaurant was dirty (mind you very slow volume) the food was cold, the dishes were dirty and management was hanging out at the bar while the restaurant looks like a tornado blew in
Trix 02/15/2004
The only problem I have with Uno's are the tomato chunks that constitute it's sauce: when I get it I ask them to leave the tomatoes off and use a marinara instead. If not for the tomato thing it would be among the greatest of the greatest.
DickWeener 02/11/2004
5 Stars to downtown Chicago's Uno's.........In my home town, a city with about 220,000 People , The uno's here in my town sucks.
Falstaff 12/05/2003
Great deep dish pizza, especially at the originals in downtown Chicago!
President -X-D 10/17/2003
Drool drool slobber. Now I want to go there... too bad I'd have to drive for two hours. This chain is the ONLY chain that I know of that truly preserves the Chicago style deep dish pizza. Uno's is wonderful and I'm almost glad we don't have one locally in Tampa, since I'd spend entirely too much time there.
gopman79 07/03/2003
I have to wonder why a pizza chain like this serves better steak than pizza?
jaspirtaint 06/17/2003
It's ok, not nearly the best though
BEBEBLOO 04/15/2003
This is my favorite restaurant! From their deep dish & thin crust pizza to the entrees, like the sirloin tips. The appetizers are good too, I have never been disappointed. The chicken quasidillas & potato skins are the best!
mrzappa 02/17/2003
Too doughy...the service tends to be indifferent... not my favorite
marcoinconn 12/31/2002
Without a doubt, the best pizza money can buy. Always fresh, and loaded with toppings. The cheese is thick and tasty. Plus for appetizers, go for the mozzerela sticks!
Shukhevych 11/25/2002
never heard of it.
MBC&Barney; 11/14/2002
Since moving to Florida 23 years ago, my first stop back in Chicago has always been Uno's. I've been known to carry 3 or 4 boxed pizzas on my return flights back to Florida, since Uno's stopped shipping. The pizza is the best in the world.
callmetootie 04/06/2001
A pizza restaurant that does not deliver??? There's no such thing. Their pizza hear is very dull and the tomatos aren't smashed or anything, it's like eating out of a bag of old nachoes.
Wiggum 10/13/2000
Uno's is the best chain pizza there is, bar none. If you like deep dish, this is the place to go. I went to college in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and we used to get take-out from the Uno's there at least once a week. Then I moved to Chicago, and - even with all the other deep-dish options in that city - Uno's was still my favorite. Now that I live in San Francisco I'm really happy there's an Uno's right down the street from my apartment. They make a great personal-size pizza that's just big enough to really fill you up without being so big that your stomach is in pain (after you've discovered it's so good that you're forced to eat the whole thing).
alicat 10/13/2000
I love pizza. Pizza is one of those foods for me that i can't get sick of. Uno's is a good family style pizza place that has some really good deep dish pizza. The pizza comes in a pan, not on a sheet, the crust is so thick (about 2" thick). It tastes so good going down but you're lucky if you can finish your second slice before you start feeling the rock forming in your stomach. It is really good pizza, and good service. I feel better about myself if I eat Uno's instead of Domino's. It just tastes more fresh. They also offer other entrees besides just pizza so it gives everyone an option if they don't want pizza.
Shroomwoman 05/03/2000
I am still fantasizing about an Uno's pizza I had several months ago. The crust was incredible, and the toppings were fresh and generous. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had.
lmor3613om 01/10/2000
The best pizza places like this one seem to be up North. Even the well-known pizza chains have lower standards when it comes to the South.

over priced and not great I'll pass thanks.

Pizzeria Uno is much better than a 5
Shafty 11/30/1999
They usually have a really good Happy Hour deal - cheap neers with free pizza. the pizza is pretty good if you can deal with chunks of tomato in the sauce.
jani1786et 11/27/1999
Great food!!! Love the selections of pizza and the appetizers.
lips1607du 11/25/1999
Thick crust that serves as the bowl for the soup-like cheese/sauce. Amazing and fulfilling!
