Dan Rather 1

He's not a politician.  He does not fit the category.

Dan Rather was a politician?  I did not realize that.  I thought he was one of those objective journalists who infest our quasi-public utility, operating in the public interest, news organizations.

He's not a politician. But he plays one on TV.

Not a politician, but wants (or wanted to) influence policy outcomes. Always struck me as being somewhat pompous and arrogant, despite his attempt at being folksy. His handling (or mishandling) of the GWB/National Guard episode rightfully brought upon his demise. Sort of makes you wonder (or maybe it just underscores) how objective his political reporting has been lo all these (too many) years. Maybe he can run for mayor someplace like Hicksville, Long Island.

Dan Rather wouldn't be classified as a politician, would he?

Polarizing? Dan Rather has seemingly made a career of bashing Republican presidents and coddling Democratic ones. An unabashed liberal who tries to pass his news stories off as unbiased, Rather is instead the epitomy of irresponsible ethics in television journalism.

Suddenly a very polarizing media figure, moreso than in the past. His wishful thinking got the best of him. He was hoping to catch GWB red-handed at receiving preferential treatment while in the National Guard. Why, the very thought of it! John Kerry and Al Gore could have feigned outrage with the rest of the objective world. Look before you leap, Dan (or report a story that seems too good to be true).
