Weird. That's the first word that comes to mind when I think about American Psycho. Original is the second. My ex-boyfriend persuaded me to watch this a few weeks after I saw Batman Begins. Watching Christian Bale go from daring, dark vigilante to egotistical narcissistic misogynistic (any more adjectives?) nutcase was...disconcerting to say the least. Bale's character is so bizarrely hateable that you can't take your eyes off of him. He's despicable to the point that you CAN'T hate him, you can only revel at his brutal honesty and rapidly depleting sanity. An interesting flick indeed.
