Tiny little portions of sub-par food. Go to any burger chain instead and break even. Here's the break-down of douchebag restaurants, from crappiest to best: Applebee's, Ruby Tuesdays, Bennigan's, TGI Fridays, any Steakhouse.

This is the place for those who don't seem to understand the difference between frozen/microwaved meals and fresh-cooked stuff.

One of my favourite restaurants. I'm from the UK and thoroughly enjoy my visits here. They have something for everyone, great deals on alcoholic beverages although I don't drink so it does not apply to me. The selection of food is great, ribs, burgers, anything really. Great dessert menu in addition and even if you're stuffed, there's dessert shooters to satisfy you. The applebees in orlando I go to has a fantastic atmosphere, very warm, welcoming and friendly. The service is great and the food is tasty. Great for dates, family meals, outings, you name it. Strong recommendation here from across the pond.

Food is over priced. However, Last month I went there and they had a deal on sam adams boston lager on draft ( at the location a patronized at least). That was the best part of my whole meal.

I went to Applebee's last night and had the 3 cheese chicken penne. It was not good! I eat healthy and follow a strict diet 5 days a week, so when I go out on the weekend I like to splurge and enjoy my food and Applebee's really disappointed me. If it's called 3 cheese, how come there was no cheese. There were 3 strips of thinly sliced chicken and it was very plain and bland. No flavor. I had to take it home and doctor it up. I had to add alfredo sauce, cheese, garlic, and chicken. Not a good meal!

I currently work at an Applebee's in Minnesota, and I would have to say by far ours is the best Applebee's out there! We strive to provide excellent service, food, and appreciation to our guests. We let them know they're welcome in the neighborhood by opening the door for them and asking them how they are doing and making small talk. Where else can you go that provides service like that?! Its usually just "how many, table or booth, smoking or non" they dont even greet you or acknowledge that you even exist. We also are trying to raise money for Muscle Dystrophy, by asking if the guests would like to donate a dollar and in return get a 5 dollar coupon for their next visit. We have currently sent one kid to camp, and are very close to sending another. In Minnesota alone we have raised over $50,000 dollars towards Muscle Dystrophy. Do you really see anyone else caring that much about the kids of our future?? So before you automatically put down all Applebee's, gather the facts fi... Read more

Eatin' good in the Neighborhooood. This is a place I like when I want something nice n' simple. I haven't had anything that disappointed me on the menu. Though, what I dislike is the fact their "limited time" selections are often the best. It's a shame to fall in love with a dish only to see it leave you....and replaced with some generic garbage you can get anywhere else. The prices are alright....this isn't the utter garbage that is the Cheesecake Factory (which will forever be my most hated spot to eat) where they give you larger portions at the cost of a HUGE pricetag. The portions are average and the prices nothing to be horrified about. I've found the service to be decent. On one occasion I had a waiter tell me his pathetic life story, which was weird for a little bit. It's a good eat. Just don't go there prepared to be amazed.

The 2 entrees and an appetizer for $20 isn't a bad deal. I find that if you stick to simpler stuff, like one of their specialty burgers and some fries, that Applebee's isn't too bad. My first experience at an Applebee's has soured me on the place, however. I was probably about 11 or 12 years old, and we were out shopping, and for some reason we stopped at an Applebee's. They had some sort of steak sandwich as one of their limited time only sort of specials. I tried to order my steak medium rare, but my mom kept shouting at the waitress over me that I wanted it well done. This fighting continued between me and my mom for a little while, until I got frustrated and just let her order my food for me the way she would want it, instead of how I wanted it. I guess I can't really blame Applebee's for delivering me a steak sandwich that was burnt to a crisp, as that's what I ordered (well, sort of, a good waitress probably would have realized that my mom was doing stupid mom stuff, and would ... In the 80's and 90's, Applebee's was a pretty decent place, as big chain restaurants go. Around 2000 however, they started losing market share, primarily to Chili's and Olive Garden. Rather than make some minor adjustments to the menu, they scrapped it- everything literally down to the buns they used for burgers. After that first change, the food was still okay, just not nearly as good as it had been. They scrapped some of their standard fare, like homemade chili and nachos, both of which were excellent before the big change. Stupidly, their corporate philosophy became an attempt to be all things to all people. They used to use the example of two couples wanting to eat out- one person wants seafood, one wants Italian, one wants Mexican, and one wants steak....we want them to come to Applebee's. Sounds like someone needs some new friends and/or marriage counselling. Anyway, this attempt did not work, as their steaks were cheap cut rubber, their Italian fare was microwave crap, the Mexic... I have never, ever, had a decent experience at one of these restaruants. Staff has been very low quality, and the food has been horrible! Just horrible! Terrible red skinned mashed potatoes, terrible herbed chicken on the light fare menu, terrible steaks!.......just really awful tastes. I'd go to T.G.I. Friday's anyday over this place! Do not know what herb or seasoning they use in their foods, but it is overwhelming and takes over their dishes! Even their broccoli is horrible. Imagine that...? I Just don't understand!

Two words: Gross GROSS GROSS ok so it one word repeated three times. location to avoid. Take your business elsewhere. Applebee’s 5678 S Redwood Road Taylorsville, UT 84123 (801) 963-5100 History: I stopped going to this applebees in 2008 for a simular issue, we ordered a mexican dish (ya make sense at a American food chain), it was covered in plastic and stuck in the microwave to melt the cheese, well the cheese was aslo glad wrap that melted on the plate when they removed the entire meal from the broiler with half melted cheese! hello a hot plate will melt skin and plastic you dipshits. This location has poor kitchen staff on a slow night, tonight 9-11-2009 at 7:15 MST (-0700 GMT) I was served a RAW ‘med well’ steak, not to hard to fix I sent it back. I then ate the ribblets and had plastic from the basting brush it it, easy to fix you say, well when my steak returned I cut it in half to make sure it was cooked and viola another piece of the brush. it was in the meat, not on top of... This is the most horriblest of the restaurants. Even the name, Applebee's. That is a horrible restaurant name. I don't know why, the people are unfriendly, the place is dirty, the food is horrid and what more can I say besides this is the restaurant that is on the very bottom of my list.

I've dinned at quite a few Applebee's restaurants over the years, especially the Newark, DE site. About five years ago, the food quality of the Applebee's chain was what most came to expect of sit down service, good quality and reasonably priced. However, with the growth of any chain and expectations of faster service, the quality has diminished. The food costs went up, and the food is now prepackaged. I recall my last two visits to Applebees, I had the orange chicken, it was rubbery and had my guest an I running for the bathroom after we ate. The greens were soggy, the rice undercooked, and more than likely my chicken too. This didn't prevent me from weekly stops in to grab spinach artichoke dip for movie nights. Unfortunately, the last visit and last batch of dip contained a fried cockroach in my chips. My advice, go support the local business in your area. Go to a nice ma and pa sit down restaurant where everything isn't rushed like chain restaurants and hopefully the food is of bet... Read more

The ONLY thing I will order at Applebee's is the Shrimp and Parmesan Sirloin. I've gotten it at multiple locations all over the country and it is consistently good. Anything else is not worth it. And the desserts are crap. Drinks are waaaay overpriced. They used to have some great things on their menu, like chicken pot pie with a salad and chicken parmesan. I really wish they would bring those back. Now everything is so similar, and the menu feels really limited.

I recently interviewed for a bartending job with Applebees. The general manager who conducted my interview was a misogynist and a pop psychologist who informed me that while I had a good personality, my "appendages" were not big enough, meaning, of course, my breasts. I also had my red hair criticized. Apparently Applebees prefers to hire blonds, when they can. I was also informed by the GM that I have no self confidence, referring to me as "mousy" at one point. Anybody who knows me is aware this is a ridiculous statement and an unfounded assumption. This GM just views women as inferior to himself and his "intellect". I have been bartending for 8 years. It is how I paid for my Bachelor's degree and how I am paying for my Master's degree. Never in the last eight years of dealing with the bar and nightclub world I have left an interview so insulted and degraded as a woman. That is saying alot due to the sexist nature of the entire industry. I will never set foot in an Applebees ever agai... Read more

Every Applebees is different, but the one near me in Bonney Lake, WA REALLY sucks. The baskets that my food came in last week were rusting and NASTY. The red plastic was peeling off everywhere. Search Google Pictures for "Nasty Applebees Basket" The food is crap about 50% of the time. I tend to just order deep fried food or burgers because those are hard to screw up.

I really enjoy applebees... it's not a 5star restaurant but its a great place to get wings and chicken fingers and burgers... not to mention that their mashed potatoes are the best! i only have one problem with Applebee's regarding their 2fers. I went their one night before 10:00pm and ordered a Vodka/Tonic. it came in a nice big glass... after 10:00 pm i ordered another vodka/tonic and this time the waitress told me it's 2fer... so i was excited. then she brought me my drink. i received 2 vodka tonics in a glass the size of a shot glass! really????

Applebee's is bad. The only time I go is when I get sucked in to going with friends. This happens after I complain about it and mention how there are better local restaurants nearby. The food is bad. There are few food and drink specials. The alcohol is overpriced, even for a restaurant. I bought a bottle of Lenienkugels at Applebee's and it cost $4.50. As it is, that is expensive for a restaurant. But the blow to my wallet did not stop there. That price did not inlcude tax. That brought it to nearly $5! The, I had to add a tip. If I went to a bar I could have spent $4.50 on the same bottle Leninkugels including a $1 tip. I don't regret much in life. The things I do regret are little things. Eating and drinking at Applebee's is one things. If you want to satisfy a group of friends, I am sure you can find a local restaurant that has better food and prices.

All of the bar and grill franchises are about the same: Applebee's, Friday's, Chili's etc. They aren't a great value and the food isn't as exciting as the commercials. Their strength is being reliable and consistent. The only one that I consider noticeably worse than the rest is Ruby Tuesday's.

Indeed applebees is horrible but it is always not the workers it has to do sometimes with brainless coustomers who would go to a restaurant when they are on a hour to 1 1/2 hour wait.If you are a paying coustomer and want to enjoy your meals show up when they are less busy. Same idea with any chain restaurant the busier they are the less attention is put into a single order, especially when they are trying to feed a full restaurant. In my exsperiences to many people chose to go to a busy restaurant and exspect their food to be perfec, well..... if thier was anything i could say to make it sound better i would but it's not going to happen. Plus from what i have seen the cook's arent the best choice of staffing many witch are criminals, Sex offenders, and drugies. the Waitstaff is medeoker and have little knowledge on how a true resaraunt works, If you enjoy waiting 30 min when you get your food to ask one of the waitstaff for another drink or so on then this is the restaurant for you. I absolutely LOVE applebees. My dance team goes there faithfully every thursday and most sundays after practice. We always go late and pretty close to closing and the servers never have an issue providing us great service from the time we walk in till the time we mozy on out. Not only do they provide great service, but the prices are AWESOME. Most of us are starving college students, so half-price appetizers are right up our alley (and portion size). But even still they have great deals all the time (i.e: 3 course meal, ultimate trio) Two thumbs WAY up!!! (by the way this is in Tacoma, WA on 72nd & Hosmer.. we love Brandi!!! She's the best server)

I have worked at Applebees for two and a half years. I am appreciative that they have employed me and worked around my schedule while I am in college, however, this restaurant is quickly going downhill. Our managers, minus some exceptions over the years, have been downright unfit to manage McDonalds. Our current hostesses tell customers that "we don't be double seatin' round here." Not only are the hostesses completely incompetent but they also cost us money. Our cooks are just complete crap. They are slow and hate their lives or something. I have never worked in a restaurant where the cooks have been so hateful and rude. Outback Steakhouse was ten times better and a lot cooler. We also got this new spokesperson, Wanda Sykes. I can not stand this woman because her voice and humor irritate me incredibly. Our new uniforms blow and our new 3 course menu is a real pain. We actually have to make the deserts. When I have five tables the last thing I want to do is make a desert. ... Read more

Simply the worst of the worst of casual dining chain establishments. I am friends with one of the local managers who has advised me to steer clear of the chemical-laden processed garbage they pawn off as food. Just the house sirloin steak alone has an ingredient list a mile long. It's supposed to just be a steak! Stay away and stay healthy!

Applebee's is just another restaurant, like any other food chain out there, there are bad servers and there are good servers. Sometimes the food is pretty good other times it sucks, it just depends which Applebee's you decide to go to. What really surprises me is that Applebee's is just as busy as any other restaurant no matter where you live and people complain about everything from the food to the service to the drinks, but they still go to Applebee's...I guess it isn't that bad after all. Maybe people should not be so rude when they go out to eat and they may find that the service that they get is far better than they expected. Respect for others, acknowledging your server as a person and not just some dung on the bottom of your shoe, and maybe a smile or two before you leave and you might be shocked at how you are treated.
