Lying about an affair: bad. Lying under oath.....heinous.

IT WAS A STUPID LIE.However,it was not even his worst. This showed me apattern of dishonesty and lack of character.Does anyone remember Chinagate, pardoning MarcRich or auditing conservative groups? Those were major, horrible character defects.Monica was a symptom, not the prime disease.

IJR, you have every right to go on repeating that moronic bumper sticker slogan ... no one denies that. And you have certainly exercised that right here, on multiple occasions. But do not confuse your right to say something with the idea that what you are stating has any merit. Fact: Clinton lied to avoid providing the plaintiffs in a civil action with damning evidence against him, the defendant. Fact II: Unlike the Clinton situation, there is no concrete evidence that GWB misled the public about the circumstances in Iraq. In fact, our current administration's military invasion of Iraq was praised by Bill Clinton whose administration operated under presumptions based upon largely the same intelligence info as was available to Bush and Co. I've read a lot of what you've written on RIA and you've never struck me as an idiot. In regards to this issue, I would suggest you stop sounding like one.

Pretty big lie, although it was more significant when it was under oath. Stupid lie too. All he had to say was "I won't dignify that question with an answer." Actually, it would have been better for everybody if he had. By answering it, truthfully or with falsehood, you're giving the paparazi the moral right to ask such a question.

You see there is actually a period after woman. I was looking at the camera woman. I don't know why I mentioned Monica

No one admires a person who cheats on their wife or partner and, to me, Clinton's propensity for dangerous sexual liaisons indicated a definite defect of character, a flaw, even a pathology. That being said, what man realistically is not going to lie when asked about his sexual peccadillos? For years, the Republicans spent millions upon millions of dollars trying to get anything they could on this man---Travelgate, Whitewater, Vince Foster, etc. etc. etc. The best they could come up with after all that time and money spent was extramarital bl**jobs. Eureka!! They then compelled Clinton to testify about them under oath, and chortled and crowed with self-righteous triumph as he lied, as any philandering husband would probably do. Is it a blemish on Clinton's record as President and his character as a man? Absolutely. But, then again, what did anyone suffer from said bl**jobs except maybe a case of scabies or crabs, or a ruined dress? The lies of Bush have embroiled us in a costly and deadly (not to mention hopeless) war with a death toll that continues to escalate day by day. How can anyone with a soul or a mind truly believe there's a moral equivalency?

A blatant and bald-faced lie. While it certainly raised questions about Clinton's integrity (and judgement) (and taste in women), it was about such a trivial matter, in terms of his ability to lead, that I don't consider it very significant.

He was pretty stupid to lie about this. It would have been better for him to fess up. He may have been a sex maniac, but he was a good president. God bless ya, Bubba.

What was interesting was Clinton trying to get away with this one. Remember depends upon what the meaning of is, is. This lie did two things: it precipitated the process leading to the impeachment of a president, and it started a national dialogue on the nature of oral sex. What saved Clinton at the end of the day from being convicted by the Senate was not his actual legal defense, but rather it was the public's ambivalence at throwing out a commander in chief who was seen as doing a good job in managing the economy. In my view, Clinton did commit perjury in front of that grand jury, which was grounds for impeachment. But at base, this was also something about a person's private life. What he did was wrong, but many times in life, a large tragedy usually has its roots in a very small action that in the broader context is rather insignificant. That's what made it such a tough issue.

This was a lie-but WHO suffered? Who died? The only reason it cost any of us a CENT is due to Kenn Starr and the Republicans who could not find anything else to crucify Clinton over.

3-stars for the 'average lie'. . .boy was this one a howler. . .but not nearly as funny as watching Clinton's enemies getting beet-red as he got away with it. . .

But President Bush is the rabid cowboy with no clue as to what the meaning of words are? I mean, how hard is it to know what sexual relations are?
