Edmond Halley (1656-1742) was a British Astronomer most remembered for his work around the comet sightings of 1456, 1531, 1607 and 1682. Halley believed that these sightings were related to the same comet, and would go on to predict the comet's next appearance. When he was proven right, the comet was named "Halley's Comet." Halley also published research regarding sunspots and the Solar System.
