Five Guys

Five Guys is strictly middle-of-the-road Ok. Not bad, but not as great as some people would have you believe either. Their burgers are pretty good, hence the 3 stars, but you can get better at a Steak'n'Shake, and they are insanely expensive. I''ll never understand all of the hullabaloo about their fries, either. The only upside to them is that you do get alot, but they taste like shit. Maybe it's just the Five guys in my area, I don't know, but I eat there maybe twice a year, if I'm hungry, and just happen to be driving by.

That place is an icebox with peanut shells on the floor. However, I will patiently wait in line for their mouth-watering burgers and golden fries. It is worth it!

We heard tons of hype about 5 guys, how great it is, fabulous,etc. We went, ordered 3 burgers, 1 large fry. We shared the fry with 3 people, more than enough. However, the burgers were fine but, and I don't know why no one else mentioned this, they taste Exactly like Steak N Shake! No difference except the type of buns. And the price-$20 for this order, no drinks. At S n' S we could've had platters with large shakes and cole slaw or salad. SO, it is ok, the fries were fine, even as a carryout order, but, not wonderful, not fabulous. I'm not sure where all the reviewers eat normally, but I've had at least 20 better burgers in my life. And way too expensive for what you get. A good chocolate shake would have been awesome. 3 stars, but I won't go out of my way to go there again, and I live less than 5 minutes from it.

I cannot tell you how bad or good their burgers are because I never got a chance to taste one. They got my order wrong and said they would make me a new cheeseburger and then totally ignored me for the next half-hour. When I asked for my money back they said they didn't know how to do that. This is the North Brunswick, NJ location.

1-star Got very sick from their food beware

I have yet to be let down with the quality of the food. Where else can you practically custom build your own burger and get a cup of fries.. not a plate or a large container.. a cup.. I'm not talking about an 8oz cup.. I'm talking about a large to medium drink cup thats around 24 to 32 oz, not to mention they throw a bunch more on top in the bag. This place is a bit on the wallet opening side, not the best place for a cheap date, but if you want a real burger then skip White Castle, McDonalds, In-N-Out, and any other burger joint that dreams of having real food there and come to Five Guys

A great Burger for a fairly good price.

My buddy's been raving about the Salt Lake locations, and now that one came to the area I've been excited to try it. It's good but nothing I would rave about. There were 10 people up front helping out with the burger prep, similar to In N Out but the burgers were bigger. I ordered a burger, didn't realizing it was 2 patty's. It was quite a lot. I did like the variety of free toppings. I went with the mushrooms and cooked onions.

Over cooked,over priced burgers.Only their actually decent fries saved them from a one star rating.

Tastes very much like Rally's or Wendy's at about 300% the cost. $10 for regular burger, fry, drink. There's no combo deals or anything like that. You'd have to eat about 50 baskets of free peanuts to get your money's worth.

The best burgers in this country are not produced by any chain. However, I'd heard so many good things about Five Guys, that when one opened in Brentwood, I went to check it out. I found them way overpriced for what you get, almost $10 for a Little Bacon Cheeseburger, a small order of fries (that was way too large--I couldn't even eat 1/2 of them, ended up taking them home), and a small drink: $4.69 for the 1/4 lb burger (which certainly was not the best burger I've had--Fat Mo's is far more reasonable and better for the price); the fries were almost $2.50, fresh cut and good, but again, I could get the same for a better price at O'Charlie's or Ruby Tuesdays--no combo meals here, which seems to me kind of like the Ruth's Chris of hamburgers, only the promise fails to deliver. They probably have to pay for their staff, which seemed excessive for the small, cramped space they had to work in, and I was constantly annoyed by the intrusiveness of a worker who seemed to get in my way of gett... Awesome burgers.

We just got a Five Guys on Long Island - I didn't realize it was a chain in other states until now!  To me, the french fries are the best part - crispy, warm and just delicious. I had one of the smaller burgers, and it was definitely really good. It's a good alternative to getting a burger at a real fast-food place because these are made to order and they seem to be of better quality.

I was suspicious about all of the hype about these burgers when I tried one in Sicklerville, NJ, but I've got to say that was the best dang burger I've had in a really long time. Fries were the big surprise, they were perfect! I watched some poor guy actually making the fries through an open kitchen door while I waited, he put a potato in this lever contraption and pulled the handle to one side (with all of his weight) and fries came out...nothing motorized, nothing frozen, just potato. Superb!

Good burger, but I was not overwhelmed by it. I had heard so many good things from other people before I went to Five Guys, that I was expecting something extraordinary, but merely got something that was just good. My idea of fast food isn't cooked to order, so I don't know if Five Guys truly fits the Fast Food category. I'll go back again when I'm in the mood for a burger, but its not a convenient stop like a drive-through, nor is it something that I am absolutely in love with.

Seriously, the best burger in the biz. Johnny Rocket's gets best overall menu/experience but if you just want a great burger...this is the place.

We go the the one in Springfield and the one near MCI Center the most- with all the expansion I think they have lost the touch on the burgers- I have seen the cooks now pat the burgers (which they claimed that they never would). The fries make up for it some but they have slipped a notch. A better burger is at Uno

simply the best fast food burger i've ever eaten.  if you're going to try one, be advised, the regular burger is actually a double, and the "little" burger is a single.  they cook 'em when you order and put on only what you tell them to.  Also, don't order a large fry unless you have about 3 friends to share them with.  A small is plenty, and they always put an extra scoop in the bag.  They're a tad bit pricey, but to have a burger that's so good for the same amount of time i'd spend at mcdonalds, it's worth it.  oh, and if you're like me, just be able to get home quick... ;-)

Heard of Five Guys on the Internet, and found one just around the corner from my hotel on a visit to Washington, DC. It was love at first bite; didn't even consider looking for any other burger joint during my stay there. Burgers were fresh and hot, and I made the mistake of ordering a large fry (couldn't finish them). One has opened in my hometown, and I really hope they keep to the "formula"

Pricey but worth it for a better burger than any of the fast food chains, plus they make it fresh with any toppings that you want for free.  The large burger is easily a meal in itself and I get stuffed.

Now in New England as well. The fries are done in peanut oil...that is reason enough. Good place..hopefully other burger joints will follow with this concept...freshly made with fresh ingredients.

Flat out the best fast food burger I've ever had. It's a little deceptive to think of this place as fast food - all the burgers are made to order, and a (big) burger, fries, and a coke will run you $9 or so. But it's worth it if you appreciate a good burger. There are a variety of free toppings - jalapenos, mushrooms, fried onions, etc. Randomly, the night after I had my first Five Guys burger, I was talking to guy I went to school who was now running about 20 off the Five Guys franchises. I was blown away by the level of detail that this restaurant goes to in terms of strategy. They only serve burgers and fries because their philosophy is that if they can't be the best, they're not going to do it. They leave sacks of Idaho potatoes around the store (not in the kitchen) so customers can see the food is fresh. Each batch of fries must be shaken 15 times to get the grease off. They bake their own bread. This restaurant could be a force to be reckoned with...

burgers are fine, toppings are great, but the fries . . . .not enough salt put on them, to damn greasy. i can't count the number of times my bag has fallen apart before i got home on my hands and feet ! ! !

Virginia/DC/MD/Delaware FINALLY has its own In and Out! These burgers are FANTASTIC, and only a dollar or so more than McDonalds. Their regular burger is the size of a McDonald's BIG MAC! Like In and Out, the selections are limited: Hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon cheese and they do have a beef hot dog. But numerous toppings to choose from, GREAT FRIES (cooked in peanut oil) and free peanuts to chomp on while you're waiting.
