UPDATED AFTER 2006 ELECTION: This district is central and southern Washington east of the Cascades. Incumbent Doc Hastings (R) saw his majority cut to just over 58% in 2006. That is the first time in several elections that he has been held below 60% in this Central Washington district East of the Cascades. That may be a danger signal for him in the future. ORIGINAL COMMENT: Bush won 63% of the vote in this central Washington district east of the Cascades. Incumbent Doc Hastings (R) won his first race in 1994 defeating Jay Inslee who now represents the 1st Washington. His first two races were close but has won with over 60% of the vote since. He was born in 1941 and is Protestant.0
