 | luridlloyd (9) 07/01/2006 | The Iraq war is not ending fascism. We are importing the new Neo-Con Fascism. How cool in a retro way. Yikes.

 | forgotten hero (13) 01/19/2006 | Let's see.... Communism exists in Cuba and parts of Asia. Slavery is still in parts of Africa. I'm not too sure about fascism but white supremacy groups exist all over not only North America but apparently the entire Western Hemisphere.

 | HistoryFan (98) 01/06/2006 | Eschew Obfuscation said it best. Most people dislike war except when it is absolutely necessary.

 | marshallemark (0) 11/28/2005 | I saw the same bumper sticker yesterday except with the little added caveat of also listing "baathism." Nice retort to the absurdity of the similar bumper sticker which has become oh-so-popular, ey?
Anyway, whatever, I was just looing up the quote and came across this site and here's the resulting post...

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 11/12/2005 | We've lost track of the satire here. If you don't like this statement because you think all war should be abolished, you're a long way from witnessing your dream coming true. Many of us accept the necessity of war in certain circumstances, and believe that it is unwise, politically irresponsible, to dismantle and forfeit your means to protect yourself and your countrymen, simply because you dislike war. Ask Jimmy Carter. Ask Bill Clinton. Ask Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
If you don't want to credit "war" with ending certain specific shoots of naziism (Hitler), fascism (Mussolini) and communism (Stalin, et al), then, to what do you ascribe their defeat? Lots of people died in Word War II. But lots more lived in freedom afterward. Was war not the answer then? If not, what was?

 | Daccory (15) 09/30/2005 | We think Bush was wrong, not because he wanted to get rid of Saddam...it is obvious many Iraqis wanted his 'dethronement'...but for the reasons given to cover up a different agenda (one we all now know) and the fact that the invasion was ill-considered. It is true that war has never solved anything except create lasting resentments, however deeply buried. As people, it is time we now take our minds off war as a solution and create new methods that will contribute to everyone's wellbeing on this planet. Yes, that sounds 'other-worldly' and no, I don't know what those solutions might be...and will it ever stop countries like Iraq wanting to dominate with new nuclear weapons? What is plainly clear is that war, in the long term solves nothing. (An example might be this: many British people died in the war to protect and keep in place the thousand years of culture of these islands. Within a decade of this government, we have been 'invaded'; with every other world culture there is so much so that our own is in 'danger' of being lost. Now, I am not arguing the rights or wrongs of this,. the labour approach or the coservative one (which could well have stopped this happening), just to illustrate that any war, at the end of the day, doesn't stop the changing of future generations. Loss of life should not be a pre-requisite for making those changes. HEYKATE:You are clearly referring to my point raised and I suggest you read again what I wrote and try and understand it. I am agreeing with you that war has solved nothing. The British fought against the Germans to keep the cultural way of life intact and to stop the hideous advance of Nazism. And rightly, we (The Allies) won. But now, we have cultures from everywhere else living together (good thing) yet a new threat of Islamic fundamentalism from sectors of the Muslim community living here. We have Yardies, Chinese Triads, Russian Mafia, the lot! And the Government seems content in changing our laws to suit them. (bad thing, since it is contra to the culture of the indigenous people) So, my point is that war never solves anything and those who lost their lives must wonder what it was all for, in the end. Of course we move on and develop. A few generations down the line and things have changed - as per your comments; through enlightenment, travel, mass media and that is how it is.
You agree with me that war is useless and that loss of life doesn't change things. That's exactly what I said, so I don't understand quite what you are having a go at me for? As I have said to you before, I am not a liberal in the American sense of the word. You are telling me on the one hand that modern times should be accepted as they are and I agree with that, but in all your other posts you fear that the US might be attacked by France or Germany (of all things)and that America should look better at its own security. Bit hypocritical, don't you think? Or maybe it is me who's the realist. The solution could be that until everyone on the planet stops believing in false Gods and understands that we are all in this game of Life together, we can start behaving towards each other like the friends we were meant to be.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 08/14/2005 | Certainly war has been necessary at times in our history. Certainly war will be needed in the future. But make no mistake, war represents the failure of our species to communicate and act in a positive manner towards one another. If war is your first and last choice to end all the world's problems, not to worry- people won't be around much longer to bitch and moan anyways. . .The necessity of war represents a failure of our species- there's nothing horrible or terrible about embracing our violent nature and failures. . .but ignoring them is childish and stupid.

 | ClassicTVFan47 (36) 08/11/2005 | How true this is! The United States of America, alone, has liberated over a billion innocents from the repressive boot of evil. I, too, would love to see peaceful solutions for all problems, and sometimes that does work. But, when villains do not waver, the use of force is necessary for the greater good.

 | cutegurl (15) 08/09/2005 | Unfortunately, we live with some very stupid people on this place I like to call Earth. These people, some of which might include Saddam Hussien, Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, ect., don't really feel like listening to the lovely negotionations and tactics the U.N. is so keen on using. They don't care that you threaten to boycott trade or end relations. They just don't care. They do feel, as the rest of us would, the brunt of war. They respond to war. It's sad really, that violence and force is sometimes what it takes to bring peace, but sometimes that is what it takes. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.

 | Mr.Political (18) 08/08/2005 | I believe this was one the first, if not the first sign brought out by Protest Warrior. Of course, was is never a good option but many would do well to remember that it often has served as the most powerful blow against some of the most terrible ideologies on our planet.*As I and most conservatives have said before, war should not be the first answer and certainly shouldn't be considered the best. But the fact is that from time to time, war has proven the most effective and decisive blow against forces that DO NOT CARE what resolutions you pass or how many security measures you put in place.

 | LanceRoxas (40) 08/08/2005 | Liberals would have us believe that humans are perfectable so long as systems of government would allow each individual seek their own ends and provide for all our basic needs. But what about people who wish to impose their will on others? What about people who are just downright evil and disturbed, and want to inflict pain and anguish on the world through the expansion of their own power?
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!
