A really interesting film, the exploding head scene, still sticks in my mind. The sequels suck, though.

David Cronenberg's opera may be erratic. But, more so than Tim Burton or, say, David Lynch, he seems to personify a contemporary Edgar Allan Poe. SCANNERS is a chilling cerebral oddity, no pun intended, that rivals any such other concept in that, unlike many others, Cronenberg makes one suspend disbelief and acknowledge the possibilities of its premise, unlikely as it may be on paper.
