07/24/2005 | | This has been one of my favorite breakfasts, since I was a kid. My mom would make extra rice for a meal at dinner and then save it in the fridge until morning, that seems to be the best way to do it, somehow the rice always seems to come out perfect, but I usually just make it, the morning that my kids ask me to make it. make a batch of rice, then add milk til it covers the rice. heat it, and the rice will puff up a bit, you can if you want (and I do) add a pat of real butter and a bit of cinnamon sugar at this point to give it extra cinnamony-ness then when it is done there will be extra milk, don't let it all absorb into the rice, it is just warmed milk and the rice absorbs a bit of this milk, then dish it out, sprinkle more cinnamon sugar (the kids do their own tastes) and eat it. It's sort of a comfort food I think, always makes my kids happy, even over their favorite box of cereal. | 4 |
